Camera+ mod. How to remove forced "internet check"?
This mod has a check which tells the dev every time I use this mod. How can I remove this spyware on the mod?

I'm not sure you can, as it's likely in a .dll file, unless you're a coder, BUT you could always block RW in your firewall and/or add the URL/IP address it is trying to access to your HOSTS file (if you need help with this, ask below). I wouldn't use a mod that did anything like this, honestly =o .

Yea I don't really want to use this mod because of that. But there are no other alternative for zoom mods right? So I wanted to know if I could disable it.
Btw, I have no clue how to block it anyway.

You don't have a firewall? You can simply block RW's .exe in any firewall, even Windows' built-in version, and all spawned .dll processes will also be blocked. The HOSTS files is a bit more of a pain but would let you, for example, still use the Multiplayer mod with RW, while blocking the mod's access to that internet address. Doing it with your firewall is a bit more of a blunt instrument ^^' .

Do you have a discrete firewall installed, or just the built-in one, and which OS? My main expertise is in Windows, but I can probably find out how to do it in other OSes.

I meant that I play multiplayer with someone so I cant disable RW.exe. I use windows 10.

OK. Do you know the IP address or URL the mod tries to access, then? You can block that in your HOSTS file and it won't affect RW itself in any way.

If you don't know the address/URL, however, it'll be difficult to help (I don't wanna install it to find out ^^').

I have no idea. In his description he simply says that his mods sends a "ping" or something to his site counting every time anyone plays with his mod. We don't get to see the site i don't think. Pretty horrible a mod like this exists and is accepted imo. Privacy hello. People are sheep using this without thinking. I really am not a fan of spyware.

Sorry then. It would be relatively trivial to identify it, myself, BUT I'd have to be willing to install and let said mod touch my system...ew *shudder*.

My apologies; I feel bad, knowing I COULD help you, if this wasn't the case =/ . Sadly, I can't find any info online that helps.

You may need to stop using a LOT of mods. The same modder who makes Camera+ is the modder who makes Harmony. Which is required by SO MANY mods.

If it eases your worry at all, he just uses it to track usage of his mods. Not pulling any data more than counting the number of users.

As far as I know there's no such code in harmony? In any way, spyware should always be an option to say no to. The fact that his Camera+ mod forces spyware is why I tried to work around it. I have known people in my life who have abused these things in their work. People who have been sitting on such a position that they can steal data, and they have.

Camera + also lags the game quite noticeably (for example, try zooming in and selecting a bed)
If you only use it for zooming out to see an entire map, you might want to ditch it and use Dubs Minimap instead

I was thinking it fun to zoom in a little further I guess but yea. I wont use it. I will download that minimap anyway. Thank you.
