Refugees, do they allways betray you?
All refugees I got so far have turned against me.
Is this hard coded or just bad luck?

Bad luck. You can also get a request to betray them, or they can peacefully leave and will sometimes send you big rewards afterwards.

So far i'm basically at 50-50 if they betray or not.

For myself, of the 10 or so groups I've taken in, only 1 has betrayed me. They might have been a bit salty that they asked to truly join me twice, but they sucked so I said nah.

I've only done one of them so far, I got an offer to betray them which I refused, then they left peacefully and a few days later sent me a drop pod with an excellent cataphract armor in it, year 1. I don't know where 3 refugees in rags armed with knives and clubs got something like that, or a drop pod, but it was pretty handy.

Usually I don't have the free space or food to accept them, but I might be making more of an effort to accommodate guests in the future.

I've had one party betray me because I let one of their own die while they were yet to join. I've had one of the royalty people pay me to betray them yes and didn't, I was sad when they left without joining. Most just came and went or came and joined

bad luck

I've only had them betray once, out of maybe 8 times I've had them. Ironically they betrayed in the middle of the night, and were confined to a building I had made just for them, so, trapped in their 'barracks', they went into a rampage and started setting fires, and by the time they (1) got through the walls and (2) were covered in burns from superheated air, most of them ended up either dead or unconscious after being tapped lightly on the shoulders.

Still better than the Trump administrations treatment of refugees :ojseagull:

I've had the event 7 or 8 times and all but one they've betrayed me. Not worth it.

I mean, if you're convinced they're going to betray you you could just arrest them when they're on your side and convert them like any captured enemy.

..Never thought of it that way. Wouldn't the rest of the group get upset if you arrest them? What to do the rest you don't want converted?

If you arrest one the rest will turn hostile immediately. Pick the best one to guarantee their survival and then prepare to fight the rest. Preferably after putting them somewhere more appropriate so you have an easier time fighting them.

Alternatively draft them in a room with a bunch of heaters and wait for them all to pass out, then arrest them.

Now that I think of it you might be able to just sedate them and then arrest.

I might give it a twirl the next time the quest pops up.

Had one group betray me, after all but 2 joined me... the others sent in drop pods with some nice stuff (one had 2 Zeushammers that were a godsend early on when I got a random mechanoid attack on randy)
OK. Ya'll going to hate me.

But I just got this event for the first time. 7 refugees betrayed me. I had, like, 10 other pawns. It was carnage. (For me.)

I made them parkas and everything. (Because they were cold ...)

Long story short. I loaded, made them drop their parkas and sent them out to do some chilly gardening outside my wall. Then, when they switched sides, they got stuck in the traps (they had built themselves like a few days previous - I was using them for my first defences) and I massacred whoever was left. I like to think I'm usually a nice person ... It was very dark.

I don't load very often in RimWorld. This was one time for sure.
