Social Chat - What does it do?

I've noticed often that two individuals will chat, sometimes positively, sometimes a deep conversation, and sometimes they insult each other.

And I see that it affects the relationship between them.

But does it improve their mood? I haven't been able to tie it directly to a modifier, such as "chatted with a friend".

I suspect it leads to indirect boosts inasmuch if relationship improves sufficiently they can marry or whatever.

As far as I know yes, it improves their moods.
That's why having a communal dining and joy room is so valuable.

So under what category does it add to the mood? "Tons of joy" or "Joy"?

I guess. I thought it used to just add the mood buff as "had social chat", but from what you tell me it must have been changed in an update.
I never really looked in detail at it since I started playing again on A14.

Nice chats raise opinion of each other.

With mutual good opinions, no social fight (seems it happens around -50 opinion) and way higher possibility of a couple forming (if possible).

A couple where both have high opinion of each other will get mood boost and make sex a lot more for another mood boost, will marry, not cheat and not divorce.

If opinion drops, bad things can happen.

That is why it is better to avoid ugly, abrasive, creepy breathing and the like.
Either others dont like them or they make everyone hate them, more social fights etc

So it governs relationships and doesn't have anything to do directly with mood? I mean, relationships trigger actions which can lead to moods, but the chats don't directly influence moods.

Not from what ive seen, unless they are in a couple.

A guy having a 80 opinion of his girl will get a +8 permanent mood.
If the girl has an opinion of 50, she will get a +5.

Will change according to opinion.

If they had sex, another +10 or 11.

I'm working on a mod right now that will allow single individuals to get the "lovin'" mood buff. All they will need is a private bedroom and a lock on the door.

In my experience, positive mood towards each other within a couple does nothing to prevent cheating. I had one guy pursue, marry, and cheat on three women in the same game.

Ive had 3 very solid couples in my last base, all with +100 to each other, noone cheated.

I suspect cheating can happen when the one trying to get the lady is better in opinion than the regular dude.

To make sure it doesnt happens, ruin his opinion (harmed me is a -15) and force real couple for a day in a zone just for them to trigger plenty of chats between them.
