RimWorld

Name in game indecision
So I think I can fit a Name In Game into the budget this month.

But I'm really torn between two ideas. And I know you only get one. I wanna do a Tribal character profile cause that's what I like to play. And tbh the character backstory options are kinda limited for Tribals, so if my submission gets accepted, I'm thinking the odds are strong I will see this pawn pretty often.

One of them is a very loose interpretation of "what kind of person would I be in the Rimworld universe" with what I think are an interesting mix utility-pawn stats. The sort of pawn I'd probably recruit if they fell from a drop pod and go "you know what I can plug you in right now doing X and then you can do Y later when I have time."

Another is a Terry Pratchett reference, with enough info changed and mashed up with a historical figure to not be copyright-violating.

Has anybody done a Name In Game? How did it go? I'm trying to figure out which route would a) have best odds of success and b) provide greater long-term amusement.

Name in Game is still being added, but Backstory in Game is not. Your writing suggests you expect Backstory in Game, so just be aware that if you buy Name in Game it only allows you to enter a name and gender - nothing else.

The first thing I would look into is if that option is still available.

I know it is still listed on steam, but I have seen a few forum posts on debating if that is still even an option.

Just a concern - I would like to think if you can still pay for it, it would still be available, but I have just seen a fair amount of concern.
Tynan posted in here yesterday that those are still being added. Honestly if I hadn't seen that I would've been more hesitant, heh.

I'm reasonably confident I've come up with things stat-wise that are balanced similarly to the pawns that come with the vanilla game. Each of my ideas has a flaw or two which hopefully makes them more interesting without making them less useful, and I think the backstories have the correct writing style and length.

My ambivalence is really will I get greater happiness out of "oo look a Terry Pratchett reference!" versus "oo look a versatile utility pawn whose name is a reference to my name!"

That makes sense, and I appreciate the heads up. Wouldn't be as enjoyable to put "Cohen, Barbarian" in there if I can't also specify he's got dentures, high melee and a minimum age of 55. ;)
