if they dont, they die.

Survival necessities have d!ck-all to do with "communism". Furthermore, a "communist" model is extremely common for small settlements around the world, throughout history to this day, so, err..?

If they don't work they become a hat, rules of the rim.

Probably a bit too small for communism, more of a Kibbutz or an Amish community where it's all in for the general good. Once you get to the tens of thousands in population you start getting the "government" type of institutions like communism.

Just because a small community works tightly togther it does not make it communism.
Besides what exactly are they going to spend their wages on?

This.

I would call it more communal than communist. There is no government in place to make it communist.

Communism, of itself, *does not* require a centralized government.

With Psychology running it's a Democracy.

Or something that is labelled a Democracy ;)

I really wanted to like that mod, and the first time there were elections I thought it was really neat, until my colonists started abandoning tasks in the middle to go talk to the mayor. After the second time one of my doctors dropped what he was doing in the middle of a surgery, I turned it off. Democracy is over-rated anyway. :)

Historically a communal system is far more efficient, and just better than a capitalist one.. when everyone works for the good of the community.

Capitalism is the belief that people aren't working for the good of the community and so they need a motive, like money. Even if the alternative might be better for everyone.

Given the context you really can't do a capitalist one in rimworld on a colony scale.. since you are the one person in control of everything, essentially. Pay is a little pointless when you just have food.

The OP got half a dozen more intelligent responses than his comment.

Given the simplistic grasp of economics and politics on display, I'm betting he unwittingly and unknowingly encounters this all day every day in his life.

Actually its more capitalistic then you might think. Ill bet if you have a 8 colonists, you have one of them mining, one of em crafting, one of em cooking, one planting, and ect. That is Capitalism. Communism would be all spend an hour mining, then spend an hour planting, then an hour cooking. In capitalism people who are good at certain tasks perform them.

Also your pawns are very different then real humans obviously. Humans need incentives to work. Pawns dont.
