Dev branch was updated yesterday. There's also still a Kepler "DLC" we are waiting to hear about.
I don't think you should try to look for any deeper meaning in project names like Kepler, apart from it being space-themed just like the game. After all, the Dreamcast went under project names such as Katana, Guppy, and Dural - none of which makes me think of anything related to Dreamcast.
I also think the introduction of a real "alien" species is possible. I don't remember if Royalty explains the reason of the empire's exodus, but being wiped out by alien invaders and then having them chased out to the rim could be a thing.
But ya there's a good chance the name is just random and it could be anything, or even nothing at all, there might be some other reason to reserve those DLC slots other than releasing a new DLC.
i didnt read that but souns like some thoughts and nothing to me anyway
>What arrives at the rimworld is a fragment of a destroyed Empire which was mostly annihilated by some unknown enemy. (Tynan)
it's not said what kind of outsiders, but under current lore "mankind never discovered any truly alien lifeforms":
So perhaps the new DLC will be about genetically modified humans, such as Ousters society from Hyperion Cantos, who will invade the solar system. And it will bring genomes that can be installed on pawns. Which adds wings, elongated or new limbs, adaptations for life in space, ability to feed off sunlight, etc. I also heard there are plans to rewrite pawn rendering or pawn layers, maybe this is due to the new variety of human morphology?
Having something equivalent to Alien Frameworks but vanilla would be very beneficial.
