Fibrous Mechanites
I kind of like the 'disease'

what are some good ways to get infected by it? any way to intentionally infect people with it?

Nope. It's a random event. You could start in a rainforest/swamp to get a higher disease rate, but that affects all diseases. Non-gameplay you could set a scenario rule to force mechanite infections after a duration or at a certain frequency.

if I ever start a new game, probs ganna finally use those scenarios. thanks for the suggestion there.
On older versions, when all my pawns were scheduled on penoxycycline they'd start to get hit with mechanite diseases. Actually hated that lol. I don't think it would work like that these days tho but haven't tried.
any info on the maximum duration of this disease?

feels like it is never ending -.-

According to the wiki, it lasts between 15 and 30 days.

It is perfectly fine for people to ask related questions in a thread, especially quick questions like that. If you want a longer discussion, or have a more complex question, sure ask in another thread, but they don't need to make a new thread for a simple, easily answered question.
Are you an admin or moderator?

no
if thats true, they should probably leave it to an actual moderator or admin to say what is 'perfectly fine' or even what is appropriate conduct on the forums.

quoting an admin or mod, or quoting rules explicitly stating something is ok, being an exception, of course.

In this case, essentially telling them to go away and make a different post kind of feels like the same thing, unless you consider it from a standpoint of both our comments being opinions not statements of the rules, which is how I approached the situation. As for actual rules, it is a bit of a gray area from what I can tell. Rule 4 "4. Stay on topic: Please try to stay on topic. Ask yourself: Am I answering the author of the topic? Does this relate to the title of the topic? If you want to discuss something else, make a thread! Limitation: Some topics can wander as the discussion develops. This rule is fairly topic-specific; some topics really need to stay on topic to be useful, while others are much more fluid."

That question they asked still feels pretty on-topic to a post talking about fibrous mechadendrites, and for someone who thinks they are awesome and wants them the time they last is pretty relevant, but it could probably be interpreted either way, and we just both interpreted it in different ways. Honestly, I just felt responding to an already answered 5 second, pretty relevant question with "Go make your own post" felt like a bit much, so I just made a comment disagreeing with the need for that, but there is no real correct interpretation on whether that question was relevant unless a mod shows up and decides on one, which isn't really necessary here.

I didn't really mean to help derail this though, which is why I just left my belief on that matter and didn't respond until after your most recent comment.

Please keep things on topic and lets limit the back seat moderation.

Yeah it's agonizing with how long it can take if the wrong people get it. Half my colony got it in a previous game.
