Best Youtubers for tutorials
Can anyone suggest some great youtubers to look up for defense and tutorials on running things efficiently like good ways to do layouts, use these weapons because they are more bang for your buck etc? I find it's really hit and miss with just a youtube search.

I don't understand if you construct these elaborate kill boxes how your colonists get in and out to go hunting etc. If you build an easy access door in a wall, won't the raiders just attack there?

Francis has great stuff and his LPs are cool too.

As for whether enemies bang down a door, they do if they see you go through it. However you can force repair the door before it breaks and they'll often give up after a while, If you give them another target (like another pawn in your killbox, they'll go after them instead).

I second Francis John, although he doesn’t cover that much stuff and doesn’t do a lot of basic stuff. He has a killbox tutorial (above) but it’s pretty min-maxy iirc. He has one about fighting infestations that shows how to use a regular door-style killbox.

Rimworld Science or something like that has some good basic concept videos, although the earlier ones are a bit dated (but correct in the generalities).

Not a tutorial channel but Rhadamant plays 99% vanilla and narrates his intentions clearly, so it’s a good general knowledge channel if you watch playthroughs. He has twitch streams, some of which are very good because he’s not min-maxing and makes mistakes, and some of which are distracting because of twitch stuff, but also has straight YouTube playthroughs.

See, now that's acceptable self promotion!

'francis' is good for learning stuff in actual gameplay
'yeti aka closetyeti' is great for indepth information regarding individual systems. his videos of that kind are comparably old but still worth watching.
'noobert' makes good compressed versions of mod(-series) introductions.

yes im a big fan of noobert, not so much roll 1d2 , dont like trmplays either. Francis John does come to mind as a quality not so much overproduced but good steady old fashioned streams

Noobert: Nice animations, mod showcases, a very "look at this cool mod!" type of channel.

Roll1D2: Fun channel, constant chaos, highly modded, but not one I would go for in-depth discussion on mechanics.

John Francis: Does the odd tutorial video, probably one of the few LPers with a very indepth understanding of the game, his LPs reflect this. Atm, he's doing a nomad playthrough and his small band of eight is wrecking armies in the 100+ size.

Rhadamant: I would say the single most competent Rimworld LPer around. His YouTube LPs are dense with information, explanation and very micromanagey. Plays to win. His Twitch LPs aren't as informational as the YouTube one but still high quality.

Pete Complete: His ice sheet LP is legendary, and his extreme desert run is equally fun, but he does only upload on a weekly basis. Doesn't seem to have as much of a grasp on Royalty, but still a very competent player. Highly edited.

Any guide I would link is like 2 to 5 years old. LoL

Rimworld Science by Bjorn Strongndarm was amazing, but its very old now.

Other youtuber I rememeber having tutorial vids.

Kokoplays MB
Yeti Aka Closet Yeti

I'm sure i forgot a whole bunch. Have fun.

edit: I can give you a bigger list for funny / crazy Rimworld vids ... but most of those get me reported if I link them on Steam .. language, violent content, etc. lol

Remember a lot of these use at least some mods, if not a ton of them. Try to find one that uses none of as few as possible.
