why is royalty dlc so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ expensive
is it even worth the money? the base game already costs higher than an average game and i am expected to scrape up enough money for another game to buy this dlc. i dont get it, how do you need more money when you dont even go on sale at all

You are not expected to at all. The DLC is optional and not essential.
I bought it and I have enjoyed it. It has been worth the expense which I have long forgotten about.
If it seems too expensive to you, then don't buy it and spend your money on something you do need.

DLC is obviously not essential, i just want the DLC and i look at the price and i expect to be given a whole new game with that big price, and from what i've seen so far it doesnt seem worth it

If you feel it's not worth it at that price, don't buy it.

It's a simple decision to make, and doesn't make you a target for ridicule for throwing a tantrum on the forums over a luxury item

The reason why most games go on sale is to make *more* money by enticing people into buying it who otherwise wouldn't. The reason why this game hasn't gone on sale because the dev promised during the kickstarter campaign that the game would never be cheaper than it was at that time.

Tell your boss when you go into work on Monday that he's already paid you enough, you'll work next week for free.
If you have the humble subscription you can get it for 16

The other side is why lower a price when you are already making money at the current amount?

If you are constantly in the top sellers list, without a massive sale for the few extra units sold... why reduce the price?
Just buy the dang DLC. This game is so good we need to keep the momentum moving. Imagine how amazing a Rimworld 2 might be.

35$ is actually average at worst for a game of this quality. now i cant speak to the quality of the DLC or if its worth it but 35$ for the base game is actually fairly cheap once you get into the potential that this game has what with all the possibilities that can arise during a standard playthrough and thats before you even get into the mods you can apply to this game. currently i have spent .12 cents an hour to play the game. Id call that a pretty good deal. and i havent even played it a massive amount of time like alot of people ive got only 280 hours in the game.
I bought it and it wasn't worth it honestly, so I can see what you're saying.
I bought the dlc after putting in over 1400 hours in the base game. Is it worth it. Depends. For me I wanted to support the production of future content, be it future games or updates. Do you need to buy it no. Is it worth it to the first time buyer no, play the game without it and if you want to add something to the game or want to support the developers then you should buy it.

TLDR: Depends but if you don't feel it's not worth it then don't buy it.

I haven't bought it and after reading all the issues and confusion that it's caused people on the forums, I feel zero incentive to change my mind. If you just want to mix up vanilla, get a bunch of mods, get a hundred mods, just go nuts with it and it won't cost you a dime.

Royalty seems to be very good content but I do agree its a little overpriced
Due to the fact that:
Its not an entirely new game

Sure it might change the way that the game progresses but still the same as base game

It adds new features like psychic powers, jump packs, royal ranking, and quests + other stuff but other than that the core of the game is the same, you still have to survive on a hostile planet with raiders who want to murder you and hostile mechanoids
I take this "Hot topic" with a grain of salt.
You people need to remember one thing, Steam have Regional prices, i have saw that some games are pretty cheap in my region, where others are Absurdly expensive, hell sometimes is better for me to open gog and pay in US dollars there.
Now, wheter the DLC is woth or not... i will not comment in that, i havent played it.
