So... you get a mercenary that is 1/3 friendly, 1/3 enemy and 1/3 neutral.
Yeah that could work... o.O
That's pretty cheap. Too cheap... I expect them to cost at least 150 minimum, and even then that would be generous.
Would make it a tad too easy to build an instant army after selling a few jackets. Mercs are not generous people, they put their lives on the line for cold hard silver, so of course they would charge an arm and a leg for their service, let alone considering the cost of their upkeep.
Um.. I don't mean to be that guy, but how much money do you often make in Rimworld via trade, let alone what trade good you focus on?
Hiring a merc is going to cost more than 15 silver unless its for an hour or two cleaning/hauling.
Recon armour and charge rifles? a merc with that kind of gear is gonna ask for hundreds of silver, maybe even 1k at even that might be too cheap.
(Admittedly, the wonderful game of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog_Fractions *did* come to mind - but that's no reason for us to be rude. ^_^ )
It sounds like you don't get too involved in the trade aspect of the game.
If you have trade goods and are not very far away from a friendly settlement, you could just set up your own caravan and bring the goods to them, rather than waiting for a caravan to come to you.
Trust me, it's pretty easy to make a decent chunk of change once you set up a basic industry. Although it can also result in your colony wealth rising considerably if you make too much money, so do mind your output and try not to get too greedy.
or 1/5th.
