Fps drops on 3x speed
I have been having fps drops down to 20 fps when I go on 3x speed. My colony is only 1 year old though with 8 people. Does anyone know how to fix this? When I'm on 1x speed its always a solid 60 fps and when i'm on 2x speed its 60 fps

EDIT: I turned off plant sway and that got 3x speed to 25 fps but it wasn't a major improvement

same with me i usually just restart my computer and let cool off for awhile the i get 60 fps at 3x
Somewhere between double the number of calculations per second and triple you hit your systems bottleneck. Not a huge amount you can do about that, there are a couple of mods which clean up unneeded data and make things a bit faster (RuntimeGC is one iirc) but you will always hit that bottleneck at some point.

If you are using windows, open task manager and start closing non essential programs. That should give you a small increase. How many animals do you have? They slow the game down quite a bit

I started a new game and the fps was 60 so maybe it was just my old game.

Its an issue with this game. It records all the pawns that enter your map, their stats, injuries, social.... Even animals get a permanent record.

Runtimegc (as khan mentioned) deletes these non essential logs and will speed up your game.

The description wasen't helpful to me with that "mod" but sounds like i should give it a go!

As for low FPS, you can also get the "Allow tool" mod and allow everything across the map(s) and collect everything, sell want you don't need/want and take apart what you can, then sell the resources.

Another option is to set the intire map to home zone for the sake of cleaning.
As fires and and corpses and old blood will still be rendered AND caluclated!!!
So cleaning up the map, helps a huge deal!

And since you can sell wood and such, maybe cut down large squares of plants too, not only do you get lots of sellable resources, but you also get a cleaner map.
It really DOES help.
It's what i do, and my laptop is a sweet potato, and the differenace is quite noticeable!

RuntimeGC has a map clean tool. They advice not to abuse it.

It's just the game, Same thing happens to me. GTX 1060 6gig, I5-4690K 16gig RAM, Win10. It's certainly not your PC, Just something they will fix in time.

the mod RuntimeGC does help a great deal.

also limit the amount of aminals you have helps a ton.
Okay so I have this problem, I start a game. I speed it up to x3, everything is fine. It's when im middle-game that the fps drops are coming, I don't know what's causing it.
