Low Graphics setting?
To reduce lag, I think it'd be kind of cool if this was an idea.. or just less laggy coding =P

Graphics make precisely no difference to performance in this game, with the singular exception of the waving grass/plants option. It runs poorly on low-power CPUs because of the ridiculous amount of complex AI pathing and other calculations the game is running pretty much all the time.

For best results, you need a CPU with a high per-core speed. 4GHz will run the game pretty much flawless, 3GHz will do the job fine except on really big maps, anything less and you'll start seeing performance hits. Number of cores doesn't matter much either because Unity only uses one, maybe 2 threads/cores.

hopefully there are able to improve the code ... during the late game I have issues and lags when playing on my laptop :)

Ah, okay.

Yeah, 90% of people hate issues with lag during late game, you'd expect their pathfinding to at least be amazing with all of this lag.. =P

Correct, if your definition of "flawless" is single digit FPS if you fast forward during forest fires - but I am sure that the human eye can't tell a difference between 1 FPS and 100 FPS

*shrug* Forest fires are an exception, those will kill any machine pretty much currently. Rest of the time? I have no issues even on large maps.

OC'd i7-6700k and even at fast foward in a forest fire I get lag (granted my forests are modded to be more dense).

But for practical purposes, other than forest fires fast forwarded, I found that my tablets Core M5Y was more than capable of handling the largest maps this game can make by default. That's nowhere near the suggestion of a 3ghz processor.

The lag may due to single threading

Also it's not the pathfinding but the social system that causes the lag as rimworld never stops tracking it

There is a mod what was it called
Make war not love
Make war not peace?
Something like that it really helps kill late game lag

I would be really interested in this mod - but cant find it. Anyone know the name or can link it?

2.5 ghz is perfect with less than 10 people and it only uses one thread which is annoying. 4.0 ghz is the best currently. If you are going to get a pc get a 3.5 ghz quad core since you are able to play most if not all games at low settings. If you know how to build a pc then get a ryzen 5 1600x since it is currently the best amount of cores, threads and ghz at the lowest price. (If you know nothing about pc building then research before doing anything else, or ignore my last part.)

Its a lot easier then it seems. As long are you arent a full r*♥♥♥♥, any one can put together a pc. The hard part isnt the construction, its finding the pieces that work well together and not buying off brand memory, harddrives, and other bits "cuz its cheaper". The 10 step wikihow on assembly is more then enough for anyone thats not borderline retarded.

If you have an older nvidia gpu you can change the 3d settings to very low.
{It's really ugly and pixly tho}

I know this is an old thread but the advice to use Make war not love is still valid. You find the mod here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2131698562
