The issue with your utility cars might have been that they had plenty of cargo space on the inside, and you'd not be able to fill that up AND tow a heavy trailer :) so the sports car with plenty of power and no cargo space will have one up on you there. :P The tow weight calculation is rather flawed and in no ways considered done though. I'll have to rewrite that eventually.
I can imagine someone actually attaching the tow bar to the car and say "yup, you maxed it's towing capacity" without even hooking up a trailer.
