Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

What determines if the car can tow in automation?
I'm asking because I'm shooting for making a few Utility trucks, and smaller cars.

It seems that most models don't have a towing statistic when I try and make a utility car, but when I try and make a track car, they can tow six times their weight.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something here?

The issue with your utility cars might have been that they had plenty of cargo space on the inside, and you'd not be able to fill that up AND tow a heavy trailer :) so the sports car with plenty of power and no cargo space will have one up on you there. :P The tow weight calculation is rather flawed and in no ways considered done though. I'll have to rewrite that eventually.

Alright, that makes a lot more sense then. Made a smaller van to test it out, and I got a whopping 6 kg of towing on top of it's roughly 2.2k cargo capacity when I stuck a large V8 in it with max gear spacing.

I can imagine someone actually attaching the tow bar to the car and say "yup, you maxed it's towing capacity" without even hooking up a trailer.
