Beware - AI slop.
A few examples - just keep in mind, there are actually a couple dozen more, I'm just posting the ones where it's obvious.

Using AI slop is bad enough - now, sure, you might disagree with that, you have the right. Or you might not care. Or you might think that art in this game is not that important - that narrative, characters - that's what really matters.

You might even think that using AI is good, that it's "the future" or whatever - fair enough again, I would disagree with you, but our opinions are just that - opinions.

What's not an opinion, is that if the game containts AI generated content - it needs to be marked on Steam as such. This game, obviously, contains AI art. But not only it's not marked appropriately - game devs vehemently deny it, primarily by using sloppily AI generated excuses and justifications.

If you care about video games, about art - then don't buy this game at least until it's properly marked on Steam. And if you did - please consider leaving a bad review and reporting this game to Steam.

This is so sad. I really liked the first game but these images sadly prove beyond doubt that it's AI generated images, without the charm, polish or creativity or the human creator.
so what lmao? IT'S GOOD THAT THEY ARE USING AI. GET ON WITH THE FUTURE
With AI it's a buy for me!
Thank you for providing the evidence I've been trying to find all day. Refunded, reported, left negative review. Insanely disappointing after how good brante is
I don't know if I'm fully convinced, the previous game was made before AI art was even a thing, and a lot of these don't look all that damning. The worst example you posted was probably the chessboard.

No, it isn't. Though you can have your opinion if you want it.
They are still required to say clearly on the Store that they use AI, which they do not do.
Really dont care, its not regular visual novel where visual values as much as story. But nether the less - its fair criticism.
Absolutely shameful, and they tried to get away with it by not disclosing it.
Half your examples are far from definitive. Several of them looked perfectly normal to me.
I don't even have a horse in this race (I was curious about the rating as I own the first game, I don't have immediate plans of buying the sequel of anything), and I'm gonna be honest: none of these screenshots are irrefutable proof of the AI claims.

I'm not saying it's categorically one way or another, but as someone who's been messing around with locally-ran Gen models and as such, someone very familiar with the capabilities of such models, there is no way to assert these claims as definitively as some of these posts do. At best the language here* is misrepresentative and should be adjusted as unfounded claims if the posters were being honest and without a personal agenda.

I do agree though that "if" it has been used there should be a statement on the page to let people make their own buying decision. But as there is in my view no definitive proof, all of this debating is wasted energy IMO.
What are the red lines supposed to show? Looks like you just marked random places. Nothing weird to see inside them.
Well, the chessboard isn't a chessboard. It's probably some other game this world uses.
Whooppie doo.
I really wish I could find better examples. I didn't find any of these persuasive. MAYBE the chess board, but in the absence of other good examples, I can't say definitely that was AI rather than a weird choice by the artist to ignore how chess works. But in a lot of these, I have no idea what you're even circling. The wine glass looks like a wine glass? Storing things in a fireplace is a thing? There's knotted fabric at the guy's waist, and his hand is concealed in folds of fabric?

OP, I sound antagonistic, but I actually deeply appreciate you taking the time to try to give examples, because I can't find anyone else doing the same. The trouble is that because of the style of the game, if any details are muddy or imperfect, it's vulnerable to claims like this. I wish people would look more closely for themselves before review-bombing. I'm going to give a few weeks for more convincing examples to come up, and if they do, I won't buy--using AI art, especially without disclosing it, is unacceptable. But if they aren't using AI, I feel mighty bad for the devs.
@Hex: Me look carefully. That red circles shows the liquid levels - which, by naturally a wine only should have one if that wine aint combine of two diffrent liquids with diffrent density.
And for second image: Where should be a hand there is a cloth wrinkle. Actually, half hand half cloth wrinkle.

I mean, seriously?

The wine glass is supposedly half full, but also full to the brim - it has 2 liquid edges inside.

Who stores things in fireplaces, psychopaths? I mean, come on?

There is a knotted fabric on the guy's waist, yeah - but we don't see the hand inside or behind it. As if the hand morphs into the fabric. Human mistake would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up anatomy, or cloth physics, not just blending things together.

The windows is another example of very obvious AI - 3 window arches all have completely different design from another. Also, there are 6 small frames of windows of different sizes that suppose to cast shadows - but they cast 5 shadows of the exact same form.

Do I have to say anything about the dog morphed skeleton?

The chessboard is simply not defensible. It's clearly suppose to be a chessboard - and, wel...

You don't sound antagonistic at all, you're fine. I wouldn't care even if you were - I mean, to me it's very obviously AI and the discussion here is helping to prop the thread up to the top, which is more than fine with me.

Honestly - while I pretty much against any kind of usage of AI in gaming industry, I would be fine with Indie devs using it, if they would just disclose it. And not only they didn't do it, they also tried to deny it using standart corpo-speech ChatGPT responses. Using AI is bad, IMO - but using it and lying about is far worse.
I’ll be honest, I had the game on my wishlist and wanted to buy it on release day, but the news about the AI worried me. Those screenshots do look concerning—it seems to me that a human artist wouldn’t make mistakes like that.

Is there any chance the developers will address these concerns?

Some of them are very much "meh", as in could just be a mistake.
But the chess pieces really give it away.
