Max Mechanics Needed at End Game
Can anyone comment on the highest level of Mechanics needed at end-game, purely for opening doors and chests?

I'm just curious at what point I can stop putting points into Mechanics; I'm at 6 right now and I don't seem to be encountering much that needs above 5.

There were doors I encountered in the lower endless-roads areas that required 9 mechanics (or 8 mechanics + 8 lockpicks). You can safely assume there will be a few doors that have max-requirements, though I'm unsure as to whether some, or all, can be opened by other means (keys etc, seeing as most locked doors are simply a reason for you to fart about finding the key to open it the hard way).

My custom rogue has 10 but there are still traps which cannot be disarmed, unless I rest somewhere to receive a +1 mechanic boost.

I've heard of a bug in regard of custom rogues and opening doors / disarming traps. I thought it was fixed?

Should be fixed by now. The issue was that a custom character that was sent to the keep could lose their voice set. If you then tried to use them to unlock or disarm something, they couldn't say anything and the action failed.

i think that i saw a lvl 12 locker on one quest.

12 lvl door in Od Nua (which can be opened with a key or ignored at all, painfully) and some 12 lvl traps.
So far didn't see anything higher.
And I obviously don't know if there are hidden objects that require more than 12 mechanics to find.

Don't forget there are a few scrolls that grant you a +3 to mechanics, you can use lockpicks to open doors and chests one level above your skill (but sadly not to disable traps), and then there's the resting bonus.

I put almost every point into Mechanics on Durance - since he starts at 4 I think. I had to give him a few in Athletics eventually, as he was tired every time I travelled from fresh rest. Even so, there were traps he couldn't disarm, so had to equip him with +1 Mechanic Bracers, then take them off after.

one of locked door requires ca.13 mechanics to open it, but it is not needed to go further. it is only to open shortcut -probably13th level of Od Nua

In the endgame dungeon? 9. In Od Nua? You need 10. Just have your MC main Mechanics since they always have to be in the party.

And don't send your trapper into the spike room in Od Nau! First experience with character death for me...poor blighter.
