Can't heal the injured winter wolf in Russetwood?
I'm just getting into the White March expansion, and am at the injured wolf when you enter Russetwood. My character is a rogue, so doesn't have any of the options to save it available. So I bring Hiravias or Sagani in the party and have them 'talk' to the wolf, but the available options seem to be stuck to my rogue. Hiravias has both animal charm and field triage, but those options are still greyed out when I try to use him, and whatever Sagani should be able to do isn't available either.

Is this what's supposed to happen here, I can't use other characters ability in the interaction?

Conversations like that are always based on your characters own stats, skill, etc. So, it does not matter which character iniates the conversation.
If you really want to save the wolf, I would recommend re-specking your character at the inn. I've done that before for specific interations where my base stats are not enough.
Not all scripted interactions are fixed on the watcher character. In some of the scripted interactions you can explicitly choose another character. Not with this wounded wolf, however.

Okay thanks that's what it looked like to me, just while googling it up I found other people saying otherwise. Like for some reason the PoE wiki for says you can just have Eder in your party... Guess he doesn't mind getting a few bites to pet a fluffy animal?

Maybe this was something that just got patched out.
A special check for Eder, because he also plays with Sagani's wolf? Maybe that's it. I'll visit Russetwood today with my melee wizard test party.

The following guide claims that Survival 7 on any character is enough:

Edit: Can't test Eder then. Main char got Survival 8, and "Examine wound" requires PER 12, but cannot see any special option for Eder or Survival 7.

So I realize this is an old thread, but as I just got to this quest for the first time and had the exact same issue, I'll say that the wiki is correct but it's not as obvious as you might think. I had Eder in my party. My main character had a resolve of 18 (Caed Nua bonus as well) which allowed me to calm the wolf (16 resolve required). I examined the arrow, and thought that I shouldn't pull the arrow out since the text said it would cause more damage. But since none of the other options opened up for me, I figured I'd try anyway and see. When I did, Eder was the one who did it and he wound up removing the arrow without causing any problems and so the wolf was able to go back safely.
