Chapter 9 Cissnei Broken

Entering Gongaga Village, I follow Cissnei across the bridge. She stops in some flowers and the camera locks on to her like she's about to speak dialogue, but the script seems to break here. Cissnei never speaks her line, the camera stays locked indefinitely, and I can't even exit the game without Alt+F4ing.

if you finished the game already and want to do it again for hard mode and let's say you have these bugs make sure to have multiple saves or you can reselect chapter 9 again and it will fix the bug, it works for me before I thought I need to restart all over again but I forget that you can reselect chapters. if still having these problems then you need to restart all over again in chapter one and it will fix your problemos

Correct. Though I wouldn't go as far back as Chapter 1. The previous chapter should more than fix it and isn't too much to make up.

I'm experiencing this bug too. I restarted the game, restarted the chapter, reloaded the save, and nothing works. I'm almost giving up ;c Did anyone manage to fix it?

No, sorry. The only fix I know currently is exactly what you've already tried. The only other thing I can recommend is first running a file check on the game to ensure none of the files are missing somehow or corrupted. If that doesn't work then a full uninstall and reinstall is your only recourse.

On the plus side, it's not an old game on PC so there is still a chance that a patch is put out later that might fix the bug. So if none of the above works I'd say wait for that.

Apparently this is a known problem that happened once before with the Protorelic quest in the Grasslands too. But that was on the PS5. Don't know if that was ever patched but there was a rumour that it was going to be so there is hope for this one too. Until then all I can recommend is the steps laid out above. Reload a save from either before you enter the village or better yet, before entering the Gongagga region. Use chapter select to restart the chapter if you have it unlocked(basically does the same as the step above). I do not recommend starting the game over from scratch as that is excessive and provides more chance that something might go wrong in the time it takes to get back to where you were. If all that fails, run a file check and if that fails then do a fresh install. Also PLEASE make sure your graphics drivers are all up to date. That often fixes more bugs like this than you'd think.

Thanks for the support! I just reinstalled the game and reloaded my save to the beginning of the chapter, but the bug was still there. However, I activated a 1.4x speed cheat, pushed Cissnei up the mountain, and somehow the dialogue triggered—hahaha! I was in complete disbelief. I don’t think it actually fixed the bug, but at least it worked around the issue, and I was able to continue the game.

I tried that but couldn't get her to move more than a couple of feet. Couldn't line Cloud up well enough with the camera restricted as it was in that scene. But congrats either way.

You can activate the dev console I think through mods but I'm not aware of anything like this able to be used through it.

As to your last save, if I recall correctly the game autosaves pretty often. Does it have more than one slot for that like some games? Maybe check that. Otherwise...nothing I can do except check the previous messages and follow the steps there. Sorry. Maybe Square will fix it in time but there is always the chance that even if they do, your save is screwed if the bug is already triggered at the point of your current save.
