Can I make / monetize a Let's Play?

Yes!

I love/hate The Fall, where can I send feedback?

Fedback can be sent via to john@overthemoongames.com or @OverTheMoonGms on Twitter. You can also like the Over The Moon Games Facebook page and leave comments there.

Alternatively John is very active here in the Steam forums. Feel free to make a thread or comment on an existing one!

What’s this “Trilogy” business all about? Is this game episodic?

The Fall was envisioned as a trilogy of short games. Rather than taking the approach used by many episodic titles where individually released episodes don’t stand well on their own, The Fall and its sequels are intended to each be a compelling experience which can be appreciated as a standalone story in a series (like Mass Effect for example).

When will the second installment be available?

No date has been announced, but development has begun! Currently, the next installment of The Fall is expected to be ready somewhere around spring of 2016... if everything goes according to plan. (Edit: This was clearly an incorrect guess. Lets leave it here for laughs.)

How much will the second installment cost? Will it be available as a separate game, or will it be DLC?

Pricing options are still being finalised, and an option for a “trilogy pack” is being considered. The price for each installment is likely to be similar to the first game.

I don’t like Steam. Where else can I buy this game?

In addition to Steam, The Fall is available on the Humble Store, and will be coming soon to other storefronts as well (list to come!) Different stores have different sales at different times, so keep an eye out!

The Fall will also be available for Wii U, and we currently are exploring XBox One possibilities. Follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook for more news on non-PC platforms.

I have a touch pad and I can’t aim and shoot! Is there a workaround?

First of all, make sure you have Secondary Click enabled in your Mac OS. After that, the in-game menu has a “toggle aim” option which lets you tap the right mouse button to switch to aiming mode instead of holding it down.

I really don’t like the default controls. Can I change them?

Keyboard bindings can be changed from the main menu.

My game pad isn’t supported. What can I do?

On Windows - The Fall uses an open source cross platform input library for Unity called InControl. Unfortunately there are some devices which InControl doesn’t yet support, though if you are able to give your make and model, as well as the operating system you are using (and drivers if appropriate), we might be able to get support added.

On Mac and Linux - We’re currently experimenting with InControl integration, and have a beta up that you can access. right click on The Fall in your game library, and go to the betas tab. Select the 1.4 beta from the drop down, and re-install the game. NOTE -- mac users may need to actually delete the game’s local files first, then switch to the beta branch, then install. There appears to be a slight problem with Steam’s patching pipeline currently whereas patching between these two versions is breaking something.

Help! my screen is black when I load the game!

We're getting a weird issue where some computers (so far with Intel GPUs) will load a black screen when the game boots. if this happens, Try one of two solutions:

1. Try using Alt+Tab to exit leave, and then return to the game. That should magically fix things.
2. Some laptops have some funky stuff going on where they're not sure what GPU to use. Try browsing to where the game's .exe file is located, right click on it, and select "run with graphics processor". This should solve the problem.

Where can I find the game’s logs?

On Windows:

Right click on the game in your Library, select properties, then click the Local Files tab. Click the "Browse local files" button and look for output_log.txt

On Mac OS

In Finder, press Command+Shift+G to bring up the location dialog and enter the following path
~/Library/Logs/Unity/

The log file is called Player.log and is shared by every Unity game on the system. If you’ve run another Unity game since running The Fall, The Fall’s log will be overwritten.

On Linux

The Fall’s log can be found in the following location:
~/.config/unity3d/Over\ The\ Moon/The\ Fall/Player.log

Where can I find settings/save files?

On Windows
C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\LocalLow\Over The Moon\The Fall\TheFallSavedData.txt

On Mac OS
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Over The Moon.The Fall/TheFallSavedData.txt

On Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Over\ The\ Moon/The\ Fall/TheFallSavedData.txt

Does this game support Steam Cloud for saves, and are saved games compatible between Windows, Mac OS and Linux?

Currently The Fall’s saved games are not synced with Steam Cloud. Support for Steam Cloud is a desired feature, and it may (or may not) be added in a future release.

When will the game be translated into my language? How can I give feedback on existing localisations?

The Fall has been localised into English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Issues have been identified with the current French localisation and is currently being looked into.

Additional localisations are being considered, but feel free email john@overthemoongames.com to help show demand for any other languages.

I’m stuck and don’t know how to proceed! Can I get some hints?

You can have a search through the Steam forums here to find hints, or use one of the helpful Steam guides written by the community.

I have some other problem or question that’s not listed here. What should I do?

Send an email, make a thread, write a tweet or leave a Facebook[www.facebook.com] comment!

Interesting post from Thulinma, for Linux users experiencing issues getting their controllers to work:

---------
Anyone running Linux with a gamepad that doesn't work - try xboxdrv.
It's a special driver that will emulate an xbox controller, taking any controller as input for it.

For example, I have a Thrustmaster T-Wireless Mini controller, which is completely unsupported/undetected by The Fall. But, the following command will make it work perfectly without any problems whatsoever:
xboxdrv --evdev /dev/input/by-id/usb-Thrustmaster_T_Mini_Wireless-event-joystick --mimic-xpad-wireless --evdev-absmap ABS_X=X1,ABS_Y=Y1,ABS_Z=X2,ABS_RZ=Y2,ABS_HAT0X=DPAD_X,ABS_HAT0Y=DPAD_Y --evdev-keymap BTN_TL2=Select,BTN_TR2=Start,BTN_MODE=Guide,BTN_SELECT=TL,BTN_START=TR,BTN_Y=LB,BTN_Z=RB,BTN_TL=LT,BTN_TR=RT,BTN_B=A,BTN_C=B,BTN_A=X,BTN_X=Y --axismap -Y1=y1,-Y2=y2

I was just about to post asking about whether it was episodic or not. Thanks for that.

Any way to modify a save file to rewind your progress? (So I can pick up achievements I missed without having to replay the entire game.)

Nothing that's supported (or particularly easy now that save data is base64 encoded). On the upside, it's a pretty short game.

I just implemented separating save games to a text file. I've got to test the build to make sure I don't introduce any new problems with an update, and then I'll push it out.
Hello, I have just realized that Spanish translation is not properly performed (I mean, ni very few time testing the game, a lot of inaccuracies and errors on texts). I have just checked and as far as I see, all texts are located in "resources.assets" file, and I guess it is as simple as changing there the errors to proper text, right?

The point is, is there any application to just know where and how are those related inside game? If not, I should have to just take note of ingame error, then look at the file searching for those words and checking each time they appear to the one I saw ingame and change it...

Thanks.

If you can unpack, edit, and repack the Unity .assets file then just add a unique marker to every line of text. E.g. "Hello" becomes "*#001Hello" etc and make note of the numbers and what the correction should be each time you find a mistake.

Hello,

I just figured it out and just retranslated full game as can be seen here (in Spanish). I also contacted John for letting him know.

Hi, how can I clear a save slot? I saved a game in slot number 2 and now I want to delete it and keep only the number 1. Thank you.

7 years and never answered. I think it's ♥♥♥♥♥ in general I can't even figure out where are the keybind getting saved I just see some analytics and then a savefile that doesnt seem to do much beyond noting a couple savestates which basically just spoilered something for me. I suspect you can just change something in settings from 1 to 0 and erase the slot that way. Yeah so that's great I still have no way of manually changing the borked controls but I did uncover an analytics where I set data collection: false. Do not collect data true. Etc.

Seriously it's not even a long game, I probably spent half the length of the game already just trying to figure out how to edit keybindings and make them stay edited so space doesn't make me jump this shouldn't be hard
