Does Steam Linux version require Adobe Air?
The game's website lists Adobe Air 2.6 as a requirement for running the game on Linux, but this isn't mentioned on the Steam store page.

I can confirm that the Linux version does indeed require Adobe AIR to run.

Well, darn, I was really hoping I would get to play it. Thanks for letting me know!

If anybody from the publisher is around: you *really* need to add this to the Linux system requirements. Air 2.6 is an obsolete and unsupported security hole and a lot of people (inc. me) aren't willing to install it.

I've now added a note to mention that. Sorry that puts you off, it was the only reasonable way to get Linux support.

Well there goes a lot of my interest. There's no excuse to force Adobe Air on Linux users.

Adobe Air is crapware... please get rid of it. I am unfortunately not buying titles where I am aware this is used or requires installation of it to run.

Unfortunately I already bought the game before finding out it required AIR.
Does this mean it will remain depending on it?
If so is there a way to refund my copy since I'm also not willing to install this crap?

shame, i was quite impressed with this title (particularly the edge review) but im afraid there is no way i'm going to put adobe air on my system either. pity there wasn't another way to get this ported to linux.

Since the game is also on Mac OS, there is. Just compile the Mac version for Linux and squash bugs. Forcing Air on Linux users is blatantly lazy.
So wait, the Linux version requires AIR, but the Windows and Mac versions don't?

Wut?

Yup the game would be alot better without air,
if the OSX version don't then it's kind of a mystery why it would be needed on Linux

All versions of the game use AIR, but the Linux version of AIR is older and not officially supported any more.

If you've already made up your mind that it's less important that you get to play my game than it is that you never install this piece of software that you presumably have only second-hand knowledge of, then that's fine!

2nv2u.sh: I have no ability to provide refunds, I believe you have to talk directly to Steam to request that.

+1 sounds like the developer(s) did the best job they could given the constraints. Has anyone actually had a problem playing the game on Linux? If so, describe the problem. Maybe it can be fixed.

I do agree that in the future it would be nice if fewer game devs use Adobe Air, but it takes time to switch. Be patient, and to whoever said they don't want to install this "crap", I can't tell if you were referring to Air or this game, but either way, please think very hard before insulting someone's work with a nonconstructive expletive.

The problem is that Adobe Air is no longer supported on Linux. The last available version, 2.6, is now four full versions obsolete, hasn't received security updates in years, and is becoming increasingly difficult to even get running on modern versions of Linux. Unfortunately, we can't expect Adobe to reverse their decision, so the only "fix" is to not use Air for programs intended for Linux.

I believe that the references to "crap" in some of the comments was aimed squarely at Air. Indeed, it is rather opposite feelings towards the game itself that are driving much of the animosity. We saw a very neat looking game, we saw that it was listed as available for Linux . . . and then we saw that, no, it isn't really. Unfortunately, some of us have let that disappointment get the better of us.

For my own part, now that the requirement is clearly documented, I have no further complaint.

Thank you for the explanation, wyldrose! However, my question still remains of "has anyone tried the game and had problems?" If it works with an older version of Adobe Air, then so be it.

I see. That makes sense.

For my part I have a big problem ... I'm on debian sid and the adobe air installer is completely unable to install because it ask me for my root password and not for getting privilege with sudo. Using external adobe air installer say me I'm on 64 bit and that a problem for him because he has not the required libs without saying which are missing ...
