If anybody from the publisher is around: you *really* need to add this to the Linux system requirements. Air 2.6 is an obsolete and unsupported security hole and a lot of people (inc. me) aren't willing to install it.
Unfortunately I already bought the game before finding out it required AIR.
Does this mean it will remain depending on it?
If so is there a way to refund my copy since I'm also not willing to install this crap?
Wut?
if the OSX version don't then it's kind of a mystery why it would be needed on Linux
If you've already made up your mind that it's less important that you get to play my game than it is that you never install this piece of software that you presumably have only second-hand knowledge of, then that's fine!
2nv2u.sh: I have no ability to provide refunds, I believe you have to talk directly to Steam to request that.
+1 sounds like the developer(s) did the best job they could given the constraints. Has anyone actually had a problem playing the game on Linux? If so, describe the problem. Maybe it can be fixed.
I do agree that in the future it would be nice if fewer game devs use Adobe Air, but it takes time to switch. Be patient, and to whoever said they don't want to install this "crap", I can't tell if you were referring to Air or this game, but either way, please think very hard before insulting someone's work with a nonconstructive expletive.
The problem is that Adobe Air is no longer supported on Linux. The last available version, 2.6, is now four full versions obsolete, hasn't received security updates in years, and is becoming increasingly difficult to even get running on modern versions of Linux. Unfortunately, we can't expect Adobe to reverse their decision, so the only "fix" is to not use Air for programs intended for Linux.
I believe that the references to "crap" in some of the comments was aimed squarely at Air. Indeed, it is rather opposite feelings towards the game itself that are driving much of the animosity. We saw a very neat looking game, we saw that it was listed as available for Linux . . . and then we saw that, no, it isn't really. Unfortunately, some of us have let that disappointment get the better of us.
For my own part, now that the requirement is clearly documented, I have no further complaint.
Thank you for the explanation, wyldrose! However, my question still remains of "has anyone tried the game and had problems?" If it works with an older version of Adobe Air, then so be it.
I see. That makes sense.
