Digging. Takes forever?
One digging stage usually takes me around 2-3 hours. Am I doing something wrong or is it supposed to be this long? I mix it up with the large excavator and the wheel loader.

That's way too long.

Tips:
1- Forget the wheel loader.
2- Use 2 joysticks or a gamepad. Use simulation mode, not arcade mode.
3- Position your excavator so the bucket starts digging at a corner.
4- Use a half-pipe truck instead of dumping your earth on the ground.
5- Back up your truck radial to the pivot point of your excavator (the back of the truck points towards the center of the excavator), at a distance of about 2 meters, and at the smallest possible angle with your excavation, so that the distance to move the earth is minimal.
6- Uncurl (open) your bucket all the way. Put in on the ground and dig a shallow trench, less than one bucket deep. Check the fill % at bottom right, when it reaches around 100% you can lift the bucket and dump in the truck. Try to fill all your buckets.
7- If your bucket gets stuck, you are too deep. Raise the boom a little.
8- Go back to your trench and repeat until the trench is finished digging (when fill % stays very low).
9- Try to make your excavation one continuous graceful move, never stopping. Take the shortest route between the trench and the truck. Combinie your movements so, for example, you lift the boom while rotating towards the truck.
10- Dig by making successive trenches from the corner, either axial trenches by rotating around a fixed position, or by making parrallel trenches by moving the excavator one bucket width sideways (in which case you should turn your tracks parallel to the movement for faster moving).
11- You never have to empty the truck! It is a magical truck with no bottom. Just move it when it is in the way of your excavator.

Hope this helps.
After a while you will get very good at digging, especially if you use two full-size joysticks like in real excavators.

Dig down until you see the whiteish gravel then clear the area of dirt, should get a pop up asking if you want to continue digging hit no and move on, took me awhile to get the hang of it.

Chacal talking like a real hoe operator... unless he is? I agree plan your dig, start to finish, know where to put the trucks, Dig all the way down, YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO GO IN THE HOLE. I have seen that a lot on servers, no reason for it. Dont leave spires, they will stop you while digging hit the top of them with the bucket open will normally drop them. IF you dig with more the one hoe, try to over lap eachother so no to miss a middle bump, put trucks on other side, swinging into eachother can cause gltiches you get tossed. Until the mods come out which needs to happen all you have is that 1.5Yard bucket, make the best of it. Hopefully someone wil make us a nice Machine with a 5 Yard bucket, like a Cat 349F? or John Deere 450? Komatsu 400? something? bigger machines would be needed for big projects like Cat 390F... Komatsu 1250? 6.7 to 9 yards on some of those, have to take them apart to move though.

done professionally (correctly), digging shouldn't take longer than 10-15 mins.
now, if you play multiplayer and get a couple of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s....

Not a pro, just a hobbyist... here's me in 2010.

@firedrak it depends on the volume of the pit and the goal in %.
A pit of 10 x 10 x 3 meters is 300 m3, that's 300 buckets. It takes around 10 seconds to dig out a bucket and dump it into a truck, so that's 3000 seconds, or 50 minutes. The usual goal is 90%, that's 45 minutes.
If you can bail out at 50%, that's 22 minutes but you don't get all the XP.

That's what i want in CS2015, big projects ;)
And not "bring 2 pallets with bricks for 1 floor", or bring 8 Pre - fabricated wall panels to the construction site, and 1 floor is build ;(

I have play 191 hours CS2015, and now allready lvl 19.

But you must drive the trucks with dirt to the gravel plant, and that takes time ;)

Only if you are very serious about realism, otherwise you can just jump to the plant.
Miller Jan 18, 2015 @ 11:06am
I agree with Peter, Bigger projects, and let us run our own ♥♥♥♥en pit, that pit is basically automated to take the whole "crusher/screener" out of the game. WHy? Have random rocks spawn in the ground. Make a hammer for the hoe to use and break them, make part of town Harder then others. This game could be so much more, and NEEDs to be. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10999_436532249767432_1527762815_n.jpg?oh=a341455f114f3af5d0c294a7e7235bd1&oe=5528A06B&__gda__=1429003477_dc24953d664749eb82274fdc3fc0e3eb This you can see that, thats the machine I ran for 2 years, MAY be back on soon if work picks back up.
Miller Jan 18, 2015 @ 11:08am
This game needs a cat 390F, 6 yard plus bucket.

what really?
when i fill in dirt into a flly loaded halfpipe-truck - it goes thrugh and hit the ground under the truck... oO :csgogun::sadelf:
Chacal Jan 18, 2015 @ 2:37pm
What I mean is, you can always add more dirt to the truck. It doesn't get full like in CS2012. I like it better that way, some excavating tasks take forever.
