Game won't start on linux
Hi all,
I've recently purchased Civ 6 Golden Edition, but I can't seem to run in on my linux. I click on "play" and the side menu will say that the game is running for a couple of seconds and then nothing.
I have done a search on the Internet, but I haven't found a solution (at least not one that I could understand) to the problem.
I'm running steam on linux mint 18.3 and I should have all the requirements to run it.
When I try to launch the game, the terminal returns the following message

Adding process 3049 for game ID 289070 DEBUG: FileExists? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I've fixed this issue by changing the pointing launcher link of the game.
Actually in steam the game is launched through the gameguide launcher that causes some troubles. Indeed, the gameguide launcher works but the play button in it won't launch the game.
So to start it directly from the game launcher instead of the gameguide launcher, go to steam/common/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/ and edit "Civ6" file and change the line "./GameGuide/Civ6" to "./Civ6Sub"

This needs to be fixed/pinned somewhere!
Thanks zb200by, I'd gifted the civ6 golden edition to a friend and we were going round in circles for hours until we found this thread.

This solution allowed me to launch the game. I selected a game to play. When the screen gets to the leader im playing as it crashes.

Any ideas here?
in the launch options "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 %command% LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openssl-1.0 %command%" works for me on manjaro. This was after I did all the arch linux steps about getting missing libraries

Thank you! LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 %command% solved it for me on Arch Linux.

Fedora 31 with a Ryzen 7 and ATI Vega 64 here, and this worked for me. I didn't need any of the LD_PRELOAD stuff.

I tried this way. It plays the music, but the sceen is stuck at loading game. I cannot see the start menu and the whole system is frozen.

I'm on Fedora 31 as well, completely different specs but this worked for me too!
