Same thing for me after doing all that 24 hours ago and trying again today several times.
1) Right click on "Sid Meier's Civilization VI" in your Steam Library and choose Properties.
2) In the General section find the Launch Option text field.
3) Copy and paste the following text, making sure to replace "YOUR_USER" with your user's account name, in the Launch Option text field referenced in Step 2:
"/Users/YOUR_USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Civ6.app/Contents/MacOS/Civ6_Exe" %command%
Hope it works for you either.
This worked for me on M1 Pro Macbook Pro on Ventura
Previously had the "damaged and cannot be opened" error
Thanks
This worked for me, thanks a lot!
THANK YOU. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. TRIED YOUR WAY AND NOPE. YESTERDAY`S CHANGE IN THE GAME WAS A DISASTER.
This worked for me. Thx a million!
didn't work for me...
This worked for me to bypass the damaged and cannot be opened etc. However I'm back to the game crashing after a few moves, this is the same crash I had prior to the v1.4.0 update so that hasn't worked for me sadly. Hopefully Aspyr/Steam folks are reading the numerous complaints on here and looking to fix it properly, Hmmmmm.........
Thank you for the tip. This worked for me on my 2019 16" MBP running Monterey.
