Well Graviteam...
You have Steel Armor on Steam, why not Steel Fury? It could help flourish the modding community through the workshop as well as bring some attention to your excellent tank sims!

In the future maybe whatever scenario they make for this game, or its Tactical cousin will be completely interchangable, for example they make a WW2 Operation for GT:Mius game and then they do someting similar for SABOW sharing the assets between the 2, maybe fully modelled playable WW2 tanks in Eastern front with SABOW mechanics is not such a wild dream.

It can go both ways, why make a beautiful map and assets including tanks based on interesting historical or modern conflicts and not make them available for both games and both sets of gamers? Also from business point of view they can get more from their hard work and increase game production.

If there came a Mius based SABOW DLC with some interesting playable tanks, ya I buy.

@Sulifer - Fall Blau was released from what I understand in Russia, as I had the Russian version of it directly from Graviteam. I tried to integrate it into the EN release version of Steel Fury, but it didn't quite work.
I had done three interviews with GT's CEO Vladimir Zayarniy for SimHq back in 2009~2010. More were planned but were shelved due to GT's new publisher. In the first interview I asked about Fall Blau and Vlads answer was a blunt "no comment" type of response. Privately he stated that Fall Blau would never be released to the western market due to a falling out between GT and Discus (the RU publisher), he never mentioned anything about Fall Blau and the RU market. So if you still have that copy of Fall Blau RainMan you have a unique and probably rare piece of GT memorabilia.
I have linked those interviews for anyone interested. Although the interviews are old you can see GT has pretty much followed what they stated they wanted to do. Definatley a few detours along the way and not at record speed. But in one of the interviews you will get to see a picture of the whole GT programming team and it might explain why things take a little time. And as a bonus the reason why there is probably an Afghanistan campaign in SABoW.

@Flashburn,
I'm not sure which interview it's in but Vlad does talk about eventually doing a new tank sim with a 6x6K map :).
@Sulifer - that Fall Blau was given to me by ZVlad after work was done on the initial improvment of the GT's Ru > En translation, as well as the translation to Ger for their western publisher Lighthouse Interactive. We also assembled a team for the German voice-overs.

Maybe he had hopes for Fall Blau to be picked up by Lighthouse back then as well...

@ RainMan
Ahh it's all making sense now. In my discussions with Vlad while doing the SimHq interviews he did say that Fall Blau was finished. But due to some serious issues with Discus they (GT) were holding something back that Discus needed to start pressing copies of Fall Blau. I'm not a programmer so I have no ideal what GT held back. Like I said you have a rare and unique piece of software RainMan that few have.
It's possible GT might have got Fall Blau out to the western market through Lighthouse had they not went bankrupt so soon after they started publishing SFK42.
I know I did ask Vlad about self publishing Fall Blau as a direct digital download at one point. He said it wouldn't be worth it since the SFK42 modding community had already put much of what would have been in Fall Blau into SFK42. Plus there were probably still some contractual issues with Discus over Fall Blau. Still I would have liked to see GT do it since I'm sure there were probably some improvements in the Fall Blau game engine over SFK42.
Also thank you for your work with the German voice overs in SFK42, they are excellent and immersive, same can be said with the RU voices also. I'm still amazed at whats in SFK42 when it comes to sounds.

Yeah, I was involved with dealing with Lighthouse for both GT's Steel Fury and IDDK's WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs Tiger in the same capacity of more or less managing the interaction between GT and the western publisher, as well as helping manage the localization of both titlels (Eng/Ger).

It's a shame that Lighthouse went down, especially considering that GT didn't get paid accordingly (well, neither did IDDK). :(

So from what I remember, merging the western copy of SFK42 with Fall Blau yielded some crappy results for me, as all the menus went back to Russian language; however, I did notice that the graphics were improved based on the engine changes in Fall Blau, with a lot crisper and more detailed textures. Didn't really delve too deep into it, though, as Cyrillic isn't my strong suit. :)
Yep it's why I was scratching my head when you said you had a copy of Fall Blau lol. Basically the issue with GT and Discus was over money owed for SFK42. I'm sure GT didn't see much if anything from Lighthouse with them going bankrupt. I thought I recalled Vlad saying Fall Blau would be a stand alone game but that discussion was well over 5 yrs ago so I could be totally wrong on that one.
Just have to ask did you ever try some of the config edits that were used on SFK42 for Fall Blau with the game reverting to Cyrillic? I seem to remember a few people having this issue with some of the SFK42 SPM's. I'm pretty sure those how to edits are over at GT's SFK42 subforum, you might need to do a little digging though.
Yep totally hear you on the Cyrillic alphabet, did one year RU language class in high school and was totally confused lol.
Nah, I didn't spend too much time trying to configure stuff in SFK42 back then. If I remember correctly, I simply uninstalling everything and then put a clean copy of SFK42 back on.
Been a long time, too, but delving into game customization files hasn't been a thing for me. :)
I hear you on that one, between SFK42, B-17 II, Strike Fighters 2 Euro/WoV/FE and Silent Hunter 4 & 5 I think I've spent more time adding mods and vehicles then actually playing them. A couple months back Alienware had to replace my hard drive, spent a whole weekend reinstalling games and mods and I still havn't finished with some games.

Well guys
Graviteam will not:
1) Make another tanksim in the next few years (3+)
This makes no sense, as an existing tank simulator (SABOW) is more than enough for 1 developer
2) Publish Steel Fury
3) Remaster and publish Steel Fury
4) Publish Fall Blau
All this makes no sense, since we already have one tank simulator (and not have rights for this games), which is much more advanced on everything

Graviteam can:
0) Maintain and develop SABOW
1) Add new vehicles and weapons
2) Add new battlefields (to SABOW) in existing settings an close to it
3) Add new battlefields in new settings
4) Add cockpits for existing tanks
5) Add new tanks with cockpits

And most likely we will do it, but something is already done. Therefore build their proposals and suggestions on this basis, rather than from some strange ideas (about SF or somthing).

Sounds like a great plan, andrey! Many people here love SABOW and would like to see it expanded - just as you proposed.

Points 3) and 5) would allow Graviteam to maybe - one day - add some new and updated WW2 content!? That's what a lot of people would like - and spend money on. ;)
Yes good news indeed about SABoW andrey.
Keep up the good work!
Still think if sabow goes ww2 it should be a stand alone. This would mean it would get treated as a new game by reviewers and well steam front page.
