thanks for verifying this works in wine.

aside and to add linux +1 attention. it would be nice to have a native client. :D

that is awesome... BUT .. what if i don't have the chance to get on an windows PC???? (i don't have one) ?? :( and i will NOT install that "thing" (windows i mean) xD

hmm.. it IS possible to install it on Linux (Steam Client running with Wine/Playonlinux) but you cannot start the game ;/ ... (about a few months ago that was possible too ;/)

What you can do, is ask a friend with Windows to get the files, then email them to you or use a flash drive and put the files on that.

Hi!
I don't own this game, but I'm a Linux nerd who was googling to see if there was a native Linux version and came across this thread.

I don't understand why what you're doing can't be achieved by simply running the Windows Steam client under WINE and downloading the files that way. Download the Windows Steam installer, install it using WINE, start it and download BeamNG.drive and then, when it's finished, close WINE Steam and run something like this in a terminal:

$ cd '~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/' $ cp -Rv BeamNG.drive ~/

Then the .exe should be in a directory called 'BeamNG.drive' in your home directory, and you can continue from step 6. You shouldn't need to install Windows just to do this, unless I'm grossly misunderstanding something.

You might need to change the path in the first command depending on how your wineprefix is set up.
