I worry I can't play this on a 1070

GT1070 and SSD PC. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

And yet if it's unplayable from too much lag and jank. I'll just have to wait for more optimization. Great looking game, but it seems too early for us with Normally good game systems instead of Top of the line new system.

Your rig is a lower medium tier, OP, it should run vast majority of new releases on medium-high settings @ 1080p, I know because I can do the same with GTX 1080 and Ryzon 5 2600x, all new releases on medium-high @ 1080p at 60 fps. The only game I couldn't run at playable level was Alan Wake 2.

The last decade hasn't seen as big of an advance as say 2002 -> 2010... 2016 -> 2024 isn't as big of a leap as some of guys here think and the proof is our hardware can run most of new games just fine, which was NOT a case with a rig built in 2002 and trying to run new release at 2010 (8 years for comparing our 8yo GPUs).
Game will be further optimized as they develop it. We do know that UE5 is a resource hog.

Suggesting to invest into a new HW is stupid. We all know that the solution to get better performance is to upgrade, duh... Some of us just prefers to hold our horses before jumping onto overpriced hardware (Looking at you, Nvidia, you greedy ♥♥♥♥♥, who are following the Apple route, minimal performance gain for double the price with each new release).
You can do it because the 1080 was a very Strong Card. And i doubt that anyone with a 1070 gets a good frame rate on 2023/24 Games.

you are right, gaming comes first. But the good vibe even more.

/I remember when i have potato PC and i bought HL2 full priced. Without having even an real internet, only puls pay modem. But in you're situation you only want PS4 level option and let PS5 level for another day./

Wish you the best, stay sharp, and don't forget to play some GOG games while waiting. One day you're gonna look back any say what we all said

holy cows man if you just only put 100 dolar monthly you could buy perfectly good gaming pc already, your graphic card is 8 years old :steamsalty:

Holy Cows.. WHY do I want to do that? To play which game? I have a perfectly good gaming PC. You just don't know enough about PC hardware to understand that. Your system is way overkill and your blissfully unaware.

I don't think gpu is your only problem. This game probably be very intensive on CPU and I can see even mid new gen PC having trouble running it. And for some reason I don't expect it have a good performance.
Game feels rushed and not very optimazed.

Read somewhere
  • NOT LOW-MID COMPUTER FRIENDLY. : If you got a GTX 1070 or lower, i'm sorry but it won't run, this game mininum (apparently) is a 2060, i'm sorry.
Guy had a lot of intel on game but might change.

God people are pig headed here. I can't make it any more simple for you.. "simple" folk. My Card runs great. I have 0% complaints. Do you get that? Bruh. I run Everything on it. You pick a great game, and I probably played it. I have 0 desire OR need to upgrade. And this game shouldn't require it either when it's more complete and not Half Baked out of the oven. I have so many games on this PC that there's usually 20 or so that I haven't even got time to look at yet. Im usually playing around 10 at a time. So another mental dwarf is going to ignore this too and post another message like yours repeating the same uninformed opinions. I'm curious to see how many more. I'm never shocked at how unreasoned gamers are with their big boy systems.

Right. That was the topic of my OP, and most all the rest of these responses are Off Topic and Ill Informed personal opinions. It's too unfinished for a perfectly good middle of the road gaming system to run it decently in the state they are planning to release it in.

Going off of you recently played games you could play those games with a smart refrigerator. 1070 doesn't work well with most games coming out today. You're likely playing at 768 or barely 1080p resolutions with mixed settings. If you're going on about "I can play any game" then tell me how well you can run star citizen.

Min gpu is set to be a 2080 super which is on whole other level of a 1070, and if anything you can only "optimize" down so much. Sometimes you have to realize if you want to play the newest games coming out you need a better graphics card. You should be looking at a 3060 minimum if you want to continue gaming in much more modern releases.

Star Citizen is Unfinished and I already mentioned it. You only picked the largest game ever made quiet probably. You're shameless my man. Pick something Completed in 2024. like say... Space Marines 2? And you go on to repeat a losing argument. Forever Winter is unfinished. Nuff Said. I play the newest games. Deal with it my man. You are just wrong. When I look for a new GPU it'll probably be a 3070 and i'll prob build a whole new PC. But NOTHING.. get this. NOTHING out now in 2024 requires it that's finished. Maybe in 2-3 more years that will change if Ray Tracing really becomes a graphic priority or something else. But not now.

You don't need a top end computer for space marine 2 my guy. Plus you aren't playing that game above 1080p either. Mind you star citizen isn't a next gen game either, but like any game in testing you need much higher specs to wade through the fidelity of games. Games that don't release with good polish intended and you have everyone with your specs hitting the refund button. Ahem, Cyberpunk 2077. (ray tracing is already two generations old - even the consoles have access.. even mobile phones as well).

You are hilarious really making me laugh now. What you just said about Space Marines 2 is just repeating what I already said many times here if you were just paying attention to what people say. Then telling me I can't play above 1080P?? when almost every message I wrote here has stated. I don't play games in 4k. I play in 1080P and that is just great for me. Im good with 2 million pixels. I don't care about Higher Res. I hate 4K and find the tradeoff for the resources is nowhere near worth it. I feel the same about Ray Tracing. Most people don't play Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing on. The game, old as it is, its still not optimized to make Ray Tracing worth turning on. So who cares how old the game is? That's not the debate. You just can't stop impulsively blurting condescending wrong circular logic and don't know how to stop and think about it.

You actually have a few options!
1. Buy the game and try it, don't play more than two hours and you can refund it within two weeks. (Steam policy)
2. You can wait just a little bit, they will be releasing a free Demo in October, so within a month!
3. Wait a couple days, the 1000 series was really really popular and people stuck with it since Nvidia couldn't keep the 3000 series in stock for people to buy them. (and the 4000 series is a total scam). So there's bound to be some feedback within a day probably.

Yep good helpful response. Totally agree.

What do you consider "runs great"?
