Ant-Grav controls
I found myself interested in trying to learn the game, but I can't get past the driving controls and could not find anywhere to change them.

In most games with WASD controls, the controls stay in relation to your view, not in relation to the vehicle. W should always move the vehicle up on the screen, not forward in relation to the vehicle. D should always move the vehicle to the right of the screen, not slide toward the right side of the vehicle.

It's like trying to fly a drone without FPV, yeah people can over time train their brain to do it, but most people won't bother.

Yeah, the control scheme is the worst of any game that I've ever played. Fix it. Not playing this game as is.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. You’re right – the controls might feel unusual at first because the chassis can’t instantly change direction (it has inertia and physics).

But I’ll try to add an alternative control scheme )

It's not the inertia and physics, it's the perspective. If this were a first or 3rd person game, the controls would be fine, but as a top down game with no screen rotation, the controls should be based on screen orientation rather than character orientation. Alternatively, have the camera rotate with the vehicle.

Both control schemes are valid - the current one stays as default, but I'll push an alternative tomorrow. Hope you'll enjoy it! :)

I've added screen-relative controls, but kept the original physics - changing it would break the game's core design. Give it a try and let me know what you think)

Enabled in game settings: Control = "Simplified"
Tried this again with the updated controls. It's better, but it's still a bit kludgy because the mouse controls turret rotation and vehicle rotation. It should be one or the other, not both.

You could have the vehicle turn left/right with Q and E perhaps.

I'll see what can be done. But keep in mind - in PvP, players using default controls will have a combat advantage )

UPD:

I've added Q/E controls for rotation - feels terrible to me, at least)
The update is live - you can try it now.

As an alternative, I could make the antigrav chassis automatically rotate to face the right direction (like on caterpillars).

UPD2:

Removed Q/E, antigrav chassis automatically rotate to face the right direction
