The studio that made the game went out of business so no more updates, but the game is infinitely moddable. There's still a fairly active community though.

I still play it, but rarely, and mostly SP.

The dev studio was closed even before they published the DLC and the free update that came along with it. Game just sold too poorly, probably because of lack of publicity.

Star Ruler 2 has so much potential. Too bad the developers are no longer updating Star Ruler 2. This game is the only game that I've know of where you could slap on massive thrusters to a planet and move it across interstellar space. I wonder if there are any other games where you could perform such spectacular feat?

Planetary Annihilation: TITANS and the base game can do that, but not to that far of an extent

I just find it funny the way the ships move. It is not very fluid, is it? They move sideways without turning, even though their thrusters are in their back. That is freaky as hell. Is there a mod that corrects that?

The way ships move in SR2 is actually based in real physics (why real world is so much more boring).
Think of it as like Kerbal space programme movement except rather than you having direct control over current thrust the computer attempts to work out the best points to do so based on where you've told it to move. The problem is it's not great at changing direction once you've started movement (again like the real world, turning in space takes a long time when at speed).

You have momentum in all directions in SR2. but all flagship engines except one can only apply thrust in one direction and the AI behind movement doesn't do this the smartest way when you change direction after movement is started.

Graviton Engines can apply thrust in all directions and this can help a lot.

SR2 tried to use Newtonian physics for movement, real world movement unlike the vast majority of games which use fantasy movement. Up to you whether its good or not.

I prefer RW movement

Thats actually a very good point, I prefer a little fantasy but seen as the devs are real nerds, i feel better thinking it is by design than just something overlooked. After all, it feels to me like those static sprites from some badly made games.
