Updating a mod
OK, I give. Everyone says make compatibility to "200" when editing a mod to make it compatible with WOTH. I did this with the portrait mod but it doesn't work. Is there another step? How do you save the change? Do you need to upload it afterwards? What :(

Adding the Compatibility:200 tag only tells the mod loader that yes, this mod should be compatible with 2.0.#. It doesn't actually make the mod compatible, though - if there's something else wrong with the mod, it'll still crash the game or cause severe bugs.

Anything in a portrait mod that is in .data/images/empires/portraits should just work with a simple Compatibility: 200 update. If it changes stuff in other places as well, that's likely where your problem is. Actual empire portraits remain essentially drag-n-drop for functionality.

But is there a finalizing step that I need to do? Basically the WOTH gets cut off. Do I just set compatibility to 200 then exit the game? There's no "apply changes" button or anything so I'm not sure if it's actually taking effect. :-\

Thanks for the help.

Don't know. I'd have just done it in notepad.

Ah, this is in the mod editor in game

I realize that. I'm just saying, it's a whole lot of extra hassle for one line of text. Especially if you're not sure it's saved or not.

You could make the change in about 5 seconds in notepad and be sure that it saved.

How do I add the line to the text file (ie: where in the file and what text exactly?)... and where would I find the file? Sorry to pester, just not good at this.

It's modinfo.txt in the root folder of the mod. I would put it right after the title line but it doesn't really matter. Just make sure it doesn't end up in a text block (<< etc >>).

Example:
Name: Example Mod Compatibility: 200 Description: << etc >>
