Half of my each fleet disappearing

I'm trying to build my fleets up and after some time half of each fleet just disappears sitting at the star port. No fighting, no flying, the game just cuts them in half with no messages. Is this normal? It also removes each admiral from each fleet each time it does this.

Is your fleet supply cap changing as well? There is a button to split fleet but it won't dissappear ships. Reinforcements might also get messed up if they need to travel outside your borders to return to the fleet.

For example for a particular fleet it will say 120/150 and after awhile it'll drop down to 70/150 and it removes all the admirals. And this happens to all the fleets simultaneously. I know I'm not splitting the fleets. I have 4 fleets in total and they all drop to half. Just have them sitting around the star port as I try to add to it. I'm enjoying the game hit having to spend 30k-40k alloy every hour to replace the missing ships is frustrating.

You have to forgive me as I just started playing this last week so I'm not super familiar with all the terms.

I don't believe so. Everything has +X and is increasing. I don't have any mods or dlc installed either. This is a 2nd play through after I got obliterated on my first and I don't remember it happening on that one. Perhaps it's just a big of some sort 🤷‍♂️ fun game either way so far. Even strategic resources? Note that on the vanilla UI, the strategic resources are lumped together so you to expand their window to check individual incomes (it's the clear diamond looking icon).

Volitile mote shortage is what's causing it. 50% of ships lost if not corrected. Thanks all
