My Planet!
I just randomly stumbled on a gaia world that has ... not one or two, nor three or four ... but five betharian stone tiles. It's sort of outside what any sane emperor would reasonably claim was 'my space', I don't really have any influence to invest, and I'm currently the weakest player on the map in fleet strength.

But that's My Planet! Anyone else lays their filthy mutated appendages on it, and it'll be the end of whatever pitiful random agglomoration of genes constitutes their shameful excuse for a race.

Haha. I have a similar planet, although it's not a Gaia and it's my best energy producing planet.

I can just imagine some sort of smug slug or space fox sending out science ships making vrmm vrmm noises when suddenly: gaia planet!

Zoom in on the 5 Betharian stone tiles and a cut to OPs avatar pressed up against his border with huge googly eyes and the caption "desire to own intensifies".

Sometimes I wish I wasn't totally incapable of mustering the motivation to make a comic of gif of that nature. >_<

And then ... the colony ship finally arrives and the happy colonists take their first steps on the world they longed for and desired for so long ... ignoring the one back home talking about things that look too good to be true most likely being a trap ...

A Fallen Empire fleet appears out of nowhere, screaming and demanding compensation in blood from anyone who dares to trample a bit of grass on their little perfect garden.
What is the name of the planet?

I had something like that happen. The Ether Drake spawned in another empire's borders, but they were too weak to kill it. I ended up having them cede planets to me just so that I could plant my flag (FO) on the start. I then relocated the pops onto my own (ring)worlds (compliments of my not so friendly Xenophobe FE neighbor).

Also bordering another Xenophobe FE is (was since they're dead now) that 25 tile Gaia world with the science monument (Zanuum?). I haven't colonized it yet since I have more tile space than I know what to do with (again, I've taken out four FE's so lots of ring worlds).

Bazzanac. Should I be worried? Is there some sort of event waiting to screw me over?

Planet was secured. No wars needed starting - although now my two bestest buddies are building outposts right up on my border, pushing me back. Cost me a high income system already. But I'm allied with them, so I can't just lash out. Of course, I'm also - still - weaker.

Nah, he was just making sure it's not a holy world. Those have specific relgiously themed names that immediately start warning bells.
Captain Keen Nov 20, 2017 @ 10:20am
Pfft ... I do know about holy worlds :p

So, the reason why I still play this game is because it still manages to surprise me.

I found a FA, a sort of caterpillar race, and for some reason they decided 'hey, these guys seem nice!' So we started off at +85 relations. Which is just weird, I've never seen above 10.

So some time goes by, and then the phone rings. It's caterpillar guys, saying 'hey, your science is pretty weak. Here, have some of ours.' And they give me a +25% bonus to everything.

WTF? What I mean by that is, thanks, caterpillar guys.

I just love it when that happens. Especially that smug, condescending attitude.

"Aw, look at those cavemen thinking they're doing science. Here, have some REAL science. Who's a good neo-barb? YOU are. Yes you are!"

Since we were getting along so famously, when they asked for one of my pops, I agreed to that too. Shipped off all the dumbest, laziest bastards on the homeworld, enhancing productivity by 15% (cause I replaced them with robots).

Indeed. You can have them. We included a list of requirements to make sure they stay healthy. Just don't try to make them do work please, that never ends well. We tried to have them run a power plant on Eco Draconis and... Well, we fear we may never get grass to grow there again.
Just don't.

I wish there was an easy way to stick all my unwanted pops onto a ship and force them onto a neighbor. I know I can build a habitat and then gift it, but that's too much work.
NixBoxDone Nov 20, 2017 @ 11:45am
You can, but only entire species unfortunately. The new displacement system lets you foist them off as refugees. :3

Yeah but it takes for ever. It's faster to just place them all on a habitat.
NixBoxDone Nov 20, 2017 @ 11:49am
Indeed. Put them on a habitat behind a space wall and then make the Andromedans pay for it!
