This new Battlefield 6 update feels like a parody of itself

I really wanted to be excited for Season 1, but this update is something else.
A “Southern California villa” map called Eastwood? Who asked for this? We’ve gone from war-torn battlefields to fighting around golf carts and swimming pools. It looks more like a real-estate ad than a Battlefield map.

Sabotage mode could’ve been great… if it didn’t feel like a glorified version of Rush where explosions outnumber players. Cargo objectives that melt in seconds, constant grenade spam, zero flow: it’s chaos without direction.

Then there are the Battle Pickups. Because apparently the best way to fix balance is to hide railguns and miniguns around the map like Easter eggs. Nothing says “tactical warfare” like watching half your team sprint for one shiny weapon.

The new DB-12 shotgun and M357 revolver are fine, but they’re Band-Aids on a game bleeding from design choices no one asked for. And that new Gauntlet mission? It’s just tanks bullying infantry while you pray your squad even spawns in one.

Portal sandbox sounds promising, but at this point it feels like the community is being asked to fix the game for them.

I love Battlefield. That’s why this is so frustrating. Every update promises a return to glory, and every time it just drifts further away from what made the series great.

I haven't had a chance to play the new map yet (hell, only been on the oil fields map a handful of times), but I've seen the videos. I hadn't thought of this way, but from what I've seen, you are right. The idea of the California landscape with brighter colors and the golf carts moves the atmosphere slider too far towards Fortnite and away from "gritty battlefield" experience.

Hell, why not create a Scandinavian or northern Europe map to give us a reason to actually want to wear those bright white skins, or a central Europe forest or SE Asian jungle? It would actually give players incentive to unlock those other camos, to use in landscapes where those camos would actually work.
Netcode is VERY off on the new map...
My team had people not register any hits at all while the enemy hit every shot...
Battle Pick Ups are such a dumb addition to the game that noone asked for
Games great, you children literally never happy. Go play CoD or w/e, really dont care about all your L takes xD
I agree. The terrible netcode became even worse. Like, how do you even do that?
Its bad.
It’s a COD map.

Bro I swear I had different ocassions, enemy stands 2m in front of me, me getting out around 10 shots out around 2 registered. Single shots from afar go straight through the enemy.

Wtf is this?

Yeah! The hell that doesn't make any sense at all...
Only played a few rounds on it but so far Eastwood is a great map. Very high amount of destruction and good mix of vehicle/infantry, and good cover between points unlike Blackwell. Not every urban map has to be in the generic middle east.

Cool to have battle pick ups return, fun way to introduce weapons that would otherwise be too powerful to have in a loadout. I don't think they make a significant enough difference to warrant having playlists specifically with them enabled or disabled, but having them enabled could be like a random chance per-game to provide experiences with and without them.

That def isn't bc netcode, they did something in the bloom at general, in the whole game it's worse
its tiny and poorly designed, in previous titles a map of that size would have no tanks or choppers and instead would only have ifvs and infantry, because its way too small.
did you just use chat gpt to write a ragebait text for steam forum lol
Eastwood is probably the best map in BF6 but for 32 players and not a single more. Too bad EA seems to think they know best what size of matches we would like to play.

Maybe, I could agree with that!
