Constant crashing!
I picked this game up a while back and decided to play again today. Now I know why I had to quit playing. I love the game, but 9 times out of 10, I get the dreaded "Deus Ex: HR has stopped working" message.

My laptop sits on a cooling pad, but it still runs really hot while I'm playing. I don't have this problem with other games (Skyrim, Morrowind, etc.). Does anyone know how I can run this game without putting such a strain on my computer? I'd really like to finish it.

Windows 7
8GB RAM

I'll look up the rest of my specs if anyone wants to know. My drivers and everything are up to date. Thanks in advance.

Crashes here, too. W7/64 Pro, Radeon 7470M, 4GB RAM. At first, it seemed to be overheating, but now upon replaying it crashes often when starting a hack or during a hack.
I'm sorry you're having problems, too. There aren't many games like this one, and I'm disappointed. I wish there was a workaround. In the meantime, I've been playing System Shock 2 over and over. The leveling system is similar and I find it highly entertaining.
I remember both System Shock(s). I probably would be disappointed with the old-school graphics after having experienced all of DE:HR. To elucidate, I can say that DE:HR crashes more often (esp. while hacking PCs) on the 2nd playthrough than my first time through. I'd like to see all of the end-options.

Has anyone actually gone stealth on every mission? I'd be impressed with that feat.
Weird, I only had crashing issues when my Vid driver was not updated. Ive played it through 4 times and no other crashes. My Laptop runs warm all the time no matter what game, and my machine is a 1 and a half year old Asus with 8GB Ram, Win 7 and 2GB Nvidia card. Nothing special by any means. Have you guys checked your drivers?
I crashed twice today, I'm still early in the game but during the loading screen (China) game crashed twice. I restarted and saved right before I got on the helicopter, fortunately it loaded the China level after that...

Of course, you should check for updates (there are no 'authorized' updates for this HP laptop). You can try turning off unnecessary services (there are free programs to do this) temporarily and doing a quick defrag. What hardware are you running on, Brown Hornet?
