Screen artifacts help please
I am getting screen artifacts on textures in game. I also like they are being rendered wrong. I don't know how to make my screen shots show up here. But they are in my profile on steam. I thought it might be my video card but I tested to make sure it was not in all games I play I get nothing like this. Just in NMS. My card is less then 3 months old also not over clocked or anything.

Nivida geforce 960 4gb
16gb ram
Intel® Core™ i5-6400 Processor
Windows 10 64bit

I do not have any frame rate problems or anything of that sort. Game runs great and I can look past them but they are every where and only this game is showing anything of that sort. So I know it's not my cards fault. Or I am pretty sure I would see them in every other game I tested. My drivers are up to date also. And I tryed the beta nivida drivers also same thing keeps showing up and the are all ways in the same spots they don't show up on everything or in different spots on the textures. And these shots are taken on the space station but I still see them on planets also and things like creatures, plants, rocks or aliens do not have any thing wrong with them. I hope I explained this ok. Hope there is a way to fix this or any one has any ideas? Any help is welcomed.

I'm getting the exact same thing.. tiny little artifacts on High Textures only. If I set them to Medium, it goes away

Yup that fixed it. Thanks so much for posting. Dont even notice any difference ether. But hopfully they will patch it. But once more thank you! I did not even think of lowering the textures.

I have this issue also, thanks to xB0NES for the workaround.

Taken in a space station, looking at a landing pad:

For what it's worth, in addition to linear artifacts like these, little rectangular ones appear in buildings on planets if you look closely at the walls.

BTW, to upload screenshots you can post a raw link to a screenshot you have uploaded to steam (To get the link Select "view online" for a screenshot you have taken with F12 and uploaded to Steam, then on the page showing your image press "share".)

I'm not entirely sure whether images from other websites work, but I think you can just use img tags: [img]your URL[/img].

i looked at the image, and well i know i have the same thing and though this was some strange bug .. but at closer inspection this is actully a texture ;)

Ya at first I thought my card was dying. Glad it was not that.

Indeed. I just got done testing my GPU memory to see if I needed to return the card.

Really? Mine flicker like crazy, but maybe that's because they are very thin lines and I'm also having an aliasing/resolution problem giving me jaggies? See here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/2/360672137536119087/

Regardless, the rectangular artifacts I mentioned, seen from inside on-planet buildings when textures are set to "high", definitely look like corruption. I wonder if it's trying to render procedural texture elements, like little scratches on surfaces and such, but failing. Just a guess.

Are you running in boarderless? cause when I run in that mode all gfx changes and what not seem to not work but when I run in full Screen everything works for me. Except for adaptive V-sync it does not work but normal V-sync does. Oh and the anti-anliasing in game sucks. It seems to only blurr the image. But I super-sampled in the nivida CC and it seems to of helped me out alot I will try to get a sreen shot of it on here in a sec at 1080p. To see if you notice any changes. But ya full screen mode lets me DSR also. I can run the game pretty well at 1440p and stay with in 60 to 50 fps on planets and in ship. Though sometimes in ship it drops to like 45fps. And this is all with out stutters too.

Oh ya look up Reshade also it can make the game look really good at 1080p. and it adds some good effects also. I would also look up reshade presets cause other people have made some good ones and I use them.

Not 4k, but I think they still look pretty good! And it also shows that you can change the rendering. And like I said, I can only do it when the game is in "Full Screen".

Whoops, the link you posted takes me to my own friends page. ;)
EDIT: I assume one of these is the image you were trying to link:

Your screenshots look nicer than my game at 1920x1080 on max settings, so something's clearly wrong.

I have no need for 4k, I'm just trying to get rid of jaggies. I'd be plenty happy at 1080p or maybe even lower if I could fix that. I'm looking into DSR and noticed a mod somewhere that lets you adjust the resolution, might have to look into that. Not compatible with the experimental build though.

Are you talking about the internal resolution multipliers mod? Was about to try it out and I use experimental build. Humm going to have to read the site a little more. Cause it seems like the proformance hit will not be as bad as using DSR.

I thought My card was overheating. I wouldn't be surprised if that's also the case. Not because this game requires so much horsepower, because of the graphics, but because it's buggy.

I've seen tose on numerous playthroughs on Youtube as well; no one ever comments on them though for some reason.
virus09077 Aug 16, 2016 @ 9:57pm
I agree with you on that one.
