Experimental Branch 24/10

Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

• Fixed an issue that could cause a white screen softlock when using a portal in VR while playing The Cursed expedition.
  
• Fixed a rare issue that could prevent save games from loading.

Experimental Branch 24/10

• Fixed an issue that caused some particle effects to flicker when playing in VR.
  
• Fixed a crash that could occur when using the Egg Sequencer to modify the Cursed Expedition reward egg.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here on PC: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\ and here on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Hmmm, this one just hit me & I had to manually revert (delete) my save. I lost 4 Quad kills in the process 😕

This is a very annoying issue I have that breaks the game in multiplayer and causes a crash when the ui is opened too long https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1gaklyg/planet_descriptions_changing_rapidly/

I lost my 90 hour save and now I have no way of retrieving it tried many methods but yeah after the update I just lost my 90 hour game

Disable vignette/scanlines under the camera settings. That's about all we can do without a mod.

The title "Child of Aquarius" is still unobtainable. Why even put it in the game if you're not going to implement the stuff we need to get it? If it's something that's planned for the future, maybe don't make it show up till we can actually get it so we're not breaking ourselves trying to figure out something that doesn't even work.

Not sure if you are even aware, Hello Games, but some of us are finding the cursed update so laggy and hitchy its virtually unplayable in combat.

I was playing 2k ultra 120 fps before, now it is still near unplayable at 1080p, lowest possible settings. rtx 3060 ti, win 11.\My wifes identical system if perfectly fine. Only difference between our systems is I am on win 11, and she is still on win 10.

Verified files, uninstalled and clean installed, rebooted, no way to fix. And screenshot lockup bug still there after like 4 months.

Its weird... the last 3-4 expeditions have not been showing up, so I cant even play them :(

I normally wait a week or so before starting an expedition so the largest bugs will be fixed (like that one that deleted people's freighters) but if this expedition only lasts two weeks that will be very difficult to do.

Also, I have health issues and it takes me quite some time to complete a whole expedition, so the usual 6 weeks were great. That way I was able to join in easily too. Please consider not having such short Expeditions in the future. Thank you :)
