Experimental Branch 14/03
Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch 16/03
  • Fixed an issue that caused some flat-mode settings to be incorrectly applied to PSVR2, causing performance issues.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent rumble from working correctly on PlayStation 5.
  • Fixed an issue that caused water reflections to be missing on some graphics settings.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause blurriness and other visual glitches during warp.
  • Fixed a rare issue that could prevent players from accessing their refiners.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the “Unhide System” button from working in the Hidden Systems list.

  • Fixed a rare issue that could incorrectly allow players to access the Space Anomaly from the quick menu after a reload.
  • Fixed a number of base building control issues for PSVR with Move controllers.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Space Anomaly missions to become stuck in the log after completing an expedition.

  • Fixed a crash related to networking.
  • Fixed a crash related to the options menu.
  • Fixed a crash related to rendering.
  • Fixed a Steam Deck-specific crash.

Experimental Branch 15/03
  • Fixed a crash on Steam Deck.
  • Fixed missing water reflections.
  • Fixed a rare crash.

Experimental Branch 14/03
  • Fixed a rare issue that could incorrectly allow players to access the Space Anomaly from the quick menu after a reload.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause blurriness and other visual glitches during warp.
  • Fixed a rare issue that could prevent players from accessing their refiners.
  • Fixed a number of base building control issues for PSVR with Move controllers.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Space Anomaly missions to become stuck in the log after completing an expedition.

  • Fixed a crash related to rendering.
  • Fixed a crash related to networking.
  • Fixed a crash related to the options menu.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

I hope this fixes the issue I have on the freighter in VR... for some reason some days ago the camera was in the stomach of the VR body of my traveller. And my crew members were floating above the floor and consoles. That was fun :)

Hello,

There still a lot of issues that are still not fixed since Fractal.
- Building items orientation during placement when they are built on walls are chaotic.
- I still experience intense lag in my freighter base (before 4.1 : 60 FPS, after : 25-30 FPS), despite my freighter base is pretty small and simple.
- Each time I quit my freighter with my ship, every icons become invisible, like space station, my own ship, every planetary buildings marked, mission marker, resource deposits on analysis visor...

Sorry, but this is getting concerning, and some bugs from previous updates (and even some bugs that are there for years) are still not fixed. Water rendering is still broken, there still the lag when exiting atmosphere... I wonder if bugs reports on Zendesk are actually read, because I feel like I loss my time to report bugs that are still not solved years after.

I can no longer play No Man's Sky with good conditions because of this marker issue, this is frustrating.

Whatever you tweaked in this update has fixed the stuttering I experienced, caused by the previous update. Thanks for ironing that problem out, whether it was an inadvertent fix or purposeful :steamhappy:

"Fixed an issue that prevented the "Unhide System" button from working in the Hidden Systems list."

Unhide system still unusable.

Before experiment thing, look at to resolve old bug like the eyes inversed for alien head number one, ticket after ticket and nothing corrected... J'appelle ça du foutage de gueule 🤔

Brightness is still cut in half on Fullscreen. Borderless Fullscreen looks fine. Its been this way for like 5 patches at least. No, my system does not have HDR capability. But the game is apparently screwing something up thinking it does.

I have not been able to play the game since the Fractal update. It just crashes to the desktop.

I submitted the crash to the help desk and haven't heard anything. Not surprising. A couple of posts said it was egotistical of me to expect a reply. I don't consider it egotistical. It is good business to let the customer of your product know that they are at least looking at the problem. By not addressing this in even a generic manner (i.e., a post or email addressed to everyone, not just me), I find the company itself egotistical.

Other threads in the forum say it's my computer. Everything else works perfectly, and I'm not about to reinstall Windows to play a game that worked until their last update.

So, as I stated in my previous post, No Man's Sky is now (and still) dead to me.

@Mrkoffee
In your post from 25 feb you got a lot of possible solution..
But for me it looks that you would not accept any help..

You even did not post which GPU you have, or which Windows Version...
You just complain about HG ....and are not willing to have a look at your system...
Most the time the problem sits in front of the PC ....

Please fix the fullscreen mode. When I switch to fullscreen it is darkening. Everything was fine before. This graphical error occurs after the update.

I'll send a zendesk report with the screenshot, but while in an Atlas station, the giant red glow shader behind the terminal disappears if you turn just slightly away from it and also clips though the one giant flat Atlas shape for the terminal.

Worth mentioning too is when you shoot a quad sentinel they start bugging the heck out and the model flips around wildly.

Still nothing about disappearance of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for Dualsense controllers?

Did you submit a Zendesk ticket with the details of the problem? That's the best way to alert them to the issue.
