Expedition - add inventory slots

Been a while since i was in NMS. Since the space station isn't a normal one, how do you add inventory slots?

You will get a few inventory expansions for certain milestones. They take effect as soon as the milestone is complete.

Yep, you get a couple when you complete sections of the expedition...
I think you get like 3 in the first phase completion...

You really only need a few specific resources for the expedition anyways.
Mostly chromatic metal.

i have some inventory upgrades in my inventory, but tooltip states you need to go to the space station to install. Went there and cant see anywhere to use them

At your base on the first planet craft nanotube and the glass bottle thingy. Fly around the first planet and look for drop pods. There are a lot and you can use the scanner to help 'see' them. One of those should allow you to use the upgrades after they get bugged like they are for you.

they have introduced a novelty, now you select which inventory slot you want to expand

When the game gives you some slots as a reward you'll be able to use the ones you have in inventory.

You have to do it when the mission lets you or else wait until you earn some more. I found this out the hard way. Next time you get another 3 and it take you to your inventory to upgrade, you will be able to place all 6, or however many you have.

As soon as you got them the game should have gone straight to the inventory upgrade screen. something must have interrupted that. Next time you get an inventory upgrade you should be able to use them.

In addition to what others have answered, you can also use them at drop pods. You do have to first use the drop pod the normal way, to add another slot, after which you can use it again to use any inventory upgrades you have.

After you are through the ones offered via expedition rewards (which you install right when you claim rewards), you can:

1. look for Exosuit Charts at some trade terminals in the system
2. research and install the Radar Amplifier, a v2 Exocraft Radar upgrade. It allows you to scan for drop pods that are located relatively close - usually no further than 40 sec - 1 min flight.
