Hello Games  [developer] Nov 26, 2018 @ 9:11am
Experimental Branch 26/11
Experimental Branch 26/11

Hello everyone,

We are continuing to address the highest priority issues reported by the community, as well as introducing new quality of life improvements and features to the game. As always, thank you for playing and taking the time to report any issues you encounter!

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please post them here, or submit a ticket to Zendesk[hellogames.zendesk.com] with the phrase "Steam Experimental 26/11" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report. Note that No Man's Sky does not officially support mods, and the developers cannot resolve issues caused by mods.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Select "Code: 3xperimental" in the dropdown menu under "Select the beta you would like to opt into".

Latest changes on Experimental (26/11):
  • Fixed an issue where the Farmer would request that Coprite was planted without the player knowing the Coprite recipe.
  • Fixed an issue where the Farmer would teach the wrong Nip Nip recipe.
  • Fixed an issue where commas were missing from some large numbers in mission notifications.
  • Fixed an issue where some of the new hazardous flora would not appear on certain planet types.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Big Ball to become permanently stuck in a refiner output (this fix prevents any new occurrences, existing blocked refiners continue to be blocked).
  • Fixed an issue that caused too few crates to spawn near buildings.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented grenades from firing while the Blaze Javelin is equipped.

  • Improved the appearance of the Bubble Cluster and Glitching Separator when displayed in your base.
  • Fixed a collision issue with the Portable Reality Generator.
  • Fixed a collision issue with the ceiling of the space station.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause debug strings to be visible when selling items at a trade terminal.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed the placement of infinite fireworks.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Community Mission Tier progress to be incorrectly reported in the Log.

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when warping a freighter in multiplayer.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when viewing Community Research progress in the Log.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur in multiplayer when encountering anomalous creatures.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when encountering strange rocks.

Congratulations Hello Games, planets have never looked so nice before!
Please consider to take a look at and correct the doors being too narrow for the player to enter the construct in the building base feature, thank you! (Happens with round rooms when you add the door).

Good example of this, Wooden door, connected too straight corridoor, to connect the round building too the wooden constructions, you have trouble then entering, collision detection is in the way, exiting doesnt give any collisions at all.

What about the issue where certain items cannot be scanned and remain listed as unknown?

What about the polo comms bug where the game is basically broken after you do multiple hand-ins of the flora scans in tier 1 of community research 8/8...

But Unknown is a new name for Yukovsite :D
It's a pun imo. Yukovsite was always recognised as new discovery on every new planet. So it was always unknown ;) And so the name change ;)

I think they did it on purpose. What's the point of scanning and giving a procedural name to pure element crystals? di-hydrogen is di-hydrogen, that's it. And the same goes for condensed carbon, sodium, etc. Large deposits of ore, like copper, are already treated like this.

But they forgot to take away the label previously used for the name. So now all of them show as undiscovered. I think they should remove it too, and good riddance.

Then rather list the name, or list it as discovered, far better than Unknown, which for new users could be confusing.
Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when encountering strange rocks.

Oh, my! If they're talking about rocks that jump and flee when you shoot them, they where scary enough already. Now I know the game could crash too, I'm afraid I'll get a little anxious while mining...
