Any tips infantry vs armors?
I have no idea what to do. Seems my infantry just looking at tanks and die from MG's fire. Equipment icon says they have mines and grenades - whats the point of them if stupid soldiers just dying without trying to use them?

infantry can see mor beter in night time tanks dont see good, one time was atack from 4 nazi tank i putting my AT guys in forest close to keypoint on hill wen tanks coming i make a order to do stealth out from forest they do ambush THE TANK DONT RELISE IS COMING : D

i was destroy 2 tank also one was disable other one was run away in the south

was 50% luck becase tanks coming across river my AT have nice line of sights in thiis direction but for sure night time was assist my mans to survive also plese order troops DONT shot man or vehicle so they dont do a stupid : o wen the tank is go past ambush positon you can see the back weakness zone of tank NOW make a order to AT shot TANK ONLY ; P use other infantry to shot enemy mans

edit pro tip do a practise in the quick battle mode

I'm assuming you're talking about the Operation Star campaigns. There wasn't much infantry could do about armor in 1943; the game accurately depicts that problem.

Defeating armor with infantry depends heavily on properly placing your ambushes. Infantry have to be hidden well enough that armor will come within about 25 meters without seeing the infantry. That usually means being behind a hill or in a city or in thick forest.

In addition, you should turn off fire at will by right clicking on it. Then make sure ambush is turned on. Then turn OFF fire at infantry, which ensures the infantry will only fire at tanks.

Once you set up the infantry properly, wait for the tanks to come very close. If your guys don't start throwing grenades, you can order them to attack. Use FAST attack, with your troops WIDELY spaced.

Keep in mind, only KS fluid is easy to use against tanks because a soldier can just lob the KS anywhere at a tank and it will start a huge fire.

AT grenades are extremely difficult for soldiers to use. To use an AT grenade the soldier has to get within throwing distance, then throw the grenade in an arc so that the charge hits flat against an important part of the tank.

Regular grenades will probably do noting against a tank.

Finally, it helps to have at least 10 soldiers for each tank you want to destroy.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that the AI is great at using combined arms assaults. If the AI has infantry walking with the tanks, you are unlikely to be able to ambush the tanks without heavy weapons.

In a more modern campaign recon spotted 3 tanks in a column coming through a mountain pass. I set up three squads on top of the pass, out of sight, with RPGs. When the tanks were below, I ordered all the sqauds to sprint forward and attack. Took some losses to my squads, but two tanks were completely destroyed and one disabled. Destroyed a KV in a forest yesterday with Panzer Grenadiers, they used a molatov? which I didn't realise they carried.

I ambushed another with four squads of Pioneers, the KV took so many satchel and mine hits I was horrified when it paused, then swung its turret and started to mow down my units, then that rear MG opened up, turned out to be a bad loss but that's warfare.

What I liked was that the enemy AI retreated and sat on their flags after the first KV loss, they knew it wasn't wise to tackle the forest again unsupported.

yep, the tactics that 'frank's...' describes are what works best. (or better) Though I would add, in the WWII operations you should only really expect or rely on Soviet AT riflemen to eliminate halftracks, armored cars, and PzIIs (from the side/rear). Any other situation you need to just retreat/take cover until you can bring armored support or artillery, if you don't have any then it's probably best to just flee the battle if you're looking at more than a few AFVs.

It's definitely quite a shock at first playing the modern operations when you see some of the ATGMs.

A handful of german soldiers killed my T34 in dark from close range! They appeared from nowhere.

German pioneers are the only infantry that if it gets close has a really good shot at killing tanks. Heavy pioneers carry alot of satchel charges and HHN-3's. All of that is bad for armor.

Red Army KS bottles are excellent against any open topped vehicle. 1 Usually hitting right sets every one on fire. Against tanks only if lucky and it hits right while a hatch is open. Rarely if ever kills a buttoned up tank. The RPG40 anti tank hand grenade can kill panzer 3 and 4's only if lucky or if the tank gets spammed with them. That is the infantry have ALOT of them. But killed panzer 2, 3, 4 and stugs with the things. Just takes enough and a little luck.

But the most important thing is that armor needs to pretty much be alone with no infantry support and you need to be unseen and get real close before being spotted. Even then its a toss up if it will do any good. And you will always take huge losses either way. The best will always be anti tank guns well placed and other tanks to deal with armor.

highlight you soldiers equipment and if it says anti armor low chances of you taking out one of the tanks is pretty slim.

Yep. I am currently on the first Shilovo campaign. 4/13 turns in I have made some good progress and it is putting me on "Victory" (though I know that can all change pretty quickly at the end). However, I have taken one of the main keypoints before all the armour showed up and the field guns I now have there are out of ammo. I have some new half track in there too but they are not going to help now I have seen the counter-attack... I hit my favourite button (Restart Operation...), started again and as soon as the clock allowed, I hit Withdraw.
Now that new units have joined I have about 20 Panzer 3's to throw at the re-take so consider my previous retreat a good tactical decision.
