New importer & notes about the old importer wizard
We've added a New Custom Model Import Wizard ( tool for modders) :D

This should help content creators as it provides a lot more transparency, control and feedback for the entire custom model import process. You can find this tool in :

[Steam library folder ] FaceRig\Bin\Tools\ImportWizardNew"
[Steam library folder ] FaceRig\Bin\Tools\ImportWizardNew\HowToUseImportWizard.pdf"

Note that the old one is still available. Both importers will run in parallel.
However the old importer tool isn't supported anymore and the documentation for the old importer isn't available anymore.

The main difference between the new and old importer is the way it handles animations.
The old version relies on certain bone names and specific animation relations that could not be updated with ease. The new importer tool requires animations as FaceRig needs them but it gives the liberty to choose the bone hierarchy. It also enables us to keep up to date the features exposed to the community artists.

The data will mainly require collada and targa files. The big difference with this new version is that it is organized differently.

You can find all the necessary documentation using this direct link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B9A2HzJCWwFWbTgxS3NLeTZMVFk?usp=sharing

And here you have an example: https://drive.google.com/a/holotech.eu/file/d/0B8KlsC2kpc7nTW5YNzFWNDBqb0k/view?usp=sharing

How to use the importer wizard:

Hi,

I would suggest to write on the IRFaceRig forum whenever you have questions about this product.
With IRFaceRig you are not able to import your own character, this feature is only for FaceRig.

It says my data folder path cannot have spaces, is it referring to the name? Because there aren't

Can you please send us a screenshot with the error message? If you do not want to post it here you can send the screenshot to info[at]facerig[dot]com and we will take a look.

No, the "path" is the name of every folder all the way from C:\ to the data folder.

So if you left the default Steam folder, you already have a problem, as there are two spaces in "program files (x86)"

Have you tried running the inporter as administrator? It might be that the folder you have your stuff in is administrator-protected.

Hi!

When I hit 'Import' it gives me this error

"Invalid Data Folder Path! Path has been set to the GeometryFile's Folder"
Not sure what to do~
Aty  [developer] Jun 17, 2016 @ 1:12am
This is just a warning, you should select data folder first. If the geometry file is not inside that folder, then you can proceed to select a geometry file outside the data folder. Otherwise you don't need to select a specific geometry file.

Hi, I'm new to FaceRig and just started using it. Do I have to own the pro version of FaceRig to be able to make my own characters? I've found some content on making the 2d avatars but is there a link on instructions on making them in 3d? I you guys can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Aty  [developer] Aug 29, 2016 @ 6:14am
Hi Lionel, the links in the post above are documentation materials and examples to create 3D models (:
Also, you do not need to have the Pro version to create your own avatar.
FaceRig Pro, is meant for private individuals ( not companies) , that want to post the video content on monetized channels, such as YouTube., Azubu.tv or twitch.tv .
The video content still cannot directly be sold, but can be monetized online.
