Torment: Tides of Numenera Release Date, Tidal Surge Update
Hello all,

Today we're excited to share some very important news with you!

Release Date

First off, Torment: Tides of Numenera now has a final release date! The game is coming February 28th, 2017. When that date comes, your Steam copy will automatically update to the release build and you will be able to enjoy the entire game's contents.

We are incredibly excited about this milestone. It has been a long road and now we are finally almost ready to share the next chapter in the Torment legacy with you.

Tidal Surge Update

Second, we have a brand new update to Torment's early access version. We know many of you have been waiting for this update, and now we're very happy to be able to deliver a much-improved version of Torment for you to enjoy.

Like previous builds, this one will allow you to play the game's first major chunk, taking you through Sagus Cliffs and some parts of the Castoff's Labyrinth – the remaining content will come with the final game, as we don't want to spoil everything, after all!

The Tidal Surge Update includes literally thousands of changes from the last beta version. There's simply far too many to show you as we'd probably start to approach the word count of the entire game just in version notes, but we'll certainly give you the highlights...

Update Highlights:

  • Voice-acting has been added to key characters and conversations.
  • Huge balance improvements across combat, loot and economy.
  • Tweaks and adjustments to character stats, such as armor and resistances.
  • Many interface art and functionality improvements, fixes and other refinements.
  • Improvements to visual and sound effects, especially combat abilities.
  • Reworked early-game crisis flow.
  • Game settings such as key rebinding and text size are now available.
  • Added tutorials and other helpers (optional).
  • Hundreds of bug fixes and performance optimizations.

Known Issues:

  • Very old save files may cause the Load Game menu to not load saves properly. You may need to delete your save files manually by navigating to "<user>\AppData\LocalLow\InXile Entertainment\Torment\Saves" in File Explorer.
  • When looting a container, the last member in the party is automatically selected instead of the first member.
  • On the Merchant screen, it can be difficult to highlight the leftmost row of items with the mouse cursor.
  • The Item Gained panel does not always appear after receiving an item from a difficult task.
  • In rare instances, combat encounters in the Anechoic Lazaret may not end correctly.
  • Dismissing Aligern or Callistege from the party can sometimes cause them to spawn in inaccessible locations.

Please note that your old saves will no longer work with this build.

If you run into strange behavior, crashes or bugs, especially if you are updating from the last build, you can also try the following:
  • Delete your old save files.
  • Reset your game options to defaults in the Options menu.
  • If the above don't help, you can use regedit to delete the game's registry folder located at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\InXile Entertainment\Torment

Idk if this is the right place to write about this but after the update I can't access the loading screen at all so I guess I won't be playing for now? I mean, even if I had to start over, is there any point ._.

Really impressed by the quality of this update. I don't know how to describe it, but a lot of the "jank" I got from earlier builds is just gone, and it's a joy to play.

Please let this quality hold up through the rest of the game, break my kickstarter curse!

Please make sure you verify your game files using Steam to see if you have a corrupt install. You may also want to reset any of the game's options as a troubleshooting step as well.

The usually suggestions about updating your video card drivers, ensuring you are within our recommended specs for the game, etc. also apply of course. :dante:

Hey there, thanks for the great game!
Will the savefiles from this build still work in the release version?
I enjoyed some of the early access but stopped, because i didn't wanted to play through it all again in the final version. But when i can take my saves with me I'm considering to start right away :)

All my problem are fixed by using regedit as Sea wrote earlier. It really runs 10x better then the last update.

Am I the only one who thinks all the text (even in de menus) is blurry?
Tried the following:
- AA off
- Changed text sizes
- Set my Nvidia settings to default
- Windowed mode
- Deleted reg keys as above mentioned
- Deleted the \AppData\LocalLow\InXile Entertainment folder
- Verified game files

None of it worked

Seems like Anechroic Lazaret needs a good deal of fixing:

- On a mid-southern room if you load the game, the room appears dark till you interact with its door.
- Sometimes when you leave a crisis it still shows you in crisis despite you can pretty much move around unable to interact with anything weirdly Peerless was not hostile while that bug occurred.
- There might be issue with how questlog updates itself saying I've dealt with Peerless when I have chosen the option to leave at first.
- The crisis froze once after I deactivated the northern control room.

By the way I wonder if it was possible to free Peerless, it would be fun to unleash that magnificient robot back into Ninth world.

But seriously, make a new pass on Anechroic Lazaret as soon as possible considering it is quite a starter area.

Bug with Aligern dialogues (today noticed): First of all I am not sure when this was the issue but I noticed it after finding the notes of his friend in Order of Truth.

- After entering into a sub-topic (his history, people etc) saying "I had other questions" it terminates the dialogue.
- Asking Aligern "How are you holding up?" he answers "As well as it can be expected" and then terminates the dialogue.

These terminations looks premature.

Edit: I went to pick Callistege to check whether similar issue happens with her or not. Seems like same premature ending of dialogue happens with her as well.

Tybir and Erritis is fine so far.

Having a couple small issues with Anechroic Lazaret as well. If you say you'll leave, don't and move immediately to the right the crisis will launch, if someone interacts with the door there the game will hang.
Also loading the game from inside the drone section of the Lazaret after the crisis has been fully completed gives the appearance of the Peerless drones having been reactivated, but no new combat occurs so its effectively a visual glitch.

When you get Star's Kiss from Loss-of-Self via Deception, Star's Kiss does not appear on right side of the UI despite the compartment to show it opens up.
