I've decided to buy it before the trial ends, this is why
Rarely I find an RPG or an adventure game that powerfully catches my attention as Tides of Numenera. The last time I found something similar to this (perhaps I can't remember of something more recent) was The Longest Journey (the original, not Dreamfall)

The cryptic way it explains things intrigues me as no other game (save the aforementioned The Longest Journey) and I find that it's better to enjoy it at a slow pace and every bit of it, not in a rush even if it were possible to complete it within these two days of trial.

Also, I've been playing Mankind Divided that was free just days ago and I didn't want to be pressured to play games under free trials for some time. Not that I complain against free trials, but I wanted to play something else that I already have in my library, and when there's a free trial I constantly feel the need of making use of it as much as possible.

I don't know if I'll replay this game as much as it deserves (mainly because since KOTOR I have trouble choosing different answers that don't fit with my personal beliefs) but I doubt I'll regret buying it sooner than I expected.

PS Yeah, perhaps Riven or any other Myst game has a similar atmosphere

P:T is, IMHO, the very best computer RPG in gaming history. SO much bang for the buck.

Tiranny is the next one that caught my eye but also they said the expansion isn't that good

This game has intrigued me as well. Like you, i didn't buy Mankind Divided during the free play as it felt like too many other games, despite being a fan of the Deus Ex series. Mankind's story wasn't compelling but it did look amazing.

In contrast, the first moment I started Tides of Numenera, I loved the subdued intro. Instead of relying on fancy graphics, you have a dark screen and text to read to immerse you into the game.

I'm a big book reader, so I loved all the prose to read as I explored Numenara. I know too much text or reading notes can annoy people, but I'm the kind of guy that loves that stuff. I read all the texts in MMOs and collect all the in-game books/notes in open-world games like Morrowind, Oblivion, etc.

Like you, I also loved Cyan World's Myst, Riven, and Funcom's The Longest Journey. Too bad Funcom's MMO, The Secret World, wasn't a huge success. I loved that MMO. It had a great atmosphere and a great story, too.

I'm still debating which RPG to buy during the Halloween Sale. I grew up on the old RPGs like Baldur's gate, Wizardy, Ultima, etc, but haven't tried many of the more recent ones like Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, Tyranny or even Divinity Original Sin 1 or 2 (although I've played the original 2D Divinity series). Too bad not all of those are on sale.

Thanks for the kind words and happy to have you as a customer!

From a fan's point of view, I'll say this about Tyranny: think about supporting the game. You'll do some things in that you don't normally do in these kinds of games. It's fascinating to play a game "where evil has already won" and play around in that world. Also, the expansion is pretty cheap so if you can get the game on discount, you might as well pick up Bastard's Wound as well. I haven't played the expansion yet though I own it (making games has a crushing impact on the time I have to play them), but I'm looking forward to doing a full second playthrough someday.

I'll also just chime in to say thanks for the support!

Thanks for giving us a chance to try this game, I played the original way back and still have the poster on my wall!, It's certainly got that cool art style the first had, and the interesting dialogue, one thing bugs me though is the lack of NPC portraits when talking to people, would have been great to see peoples faces, I suppose this would have been a tonne of work?
I will def be buying this as I will miss my free trial day tomorrow due to work, I like the idea of the Castoff a real good play on the Nameless one though I need my floating skull, he was funny:steamhappy:
I really like Tyranny, but I am stuck in the Oldwalls entrance. The door cannot be opened. The object retrieved does nothing.:steamfacepalm:

HELP!

Feels like I'm the odd man out. I decided to give this a go on the free weekend. Apparently I've encountered my first bug in the game in th quest 'The Anechoic Lazarret;. Looks like this bug has been around since the initial release and it renders the quest uncompleteable.

Sorry, inXile had my interest with this game initially, but this was literally the first real quest I did and it's broken. Taking my money and going elsewhere.

I'm with you in fixing bugs that exist for a long time and that breaks something as important as a quest. However, I really recommend you to buy it still because it's unlikely you will find the same bug twice.
