FIX MEGAPOST: People who are crashing on Start-up. & people with the ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT Crash / BSOD crash, APPCRASH
Ok Ive got a little free time, so I am going to try and help some of you who are experiencing crashes on start-up. Please don't fill this thread with posts asking for help. If you would like some help, please do the following.

I AM NO LONGER GOING TO ANSWER INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS TO FIX YOUR GAME IF YOU HAVE NOT FOLLOWED/ATTEMPTED ALL OF THE FOLLOWING.

_____________________________________________________________________

Ok for people with ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT Crash / BSOD

Really, this something that has to be fixed with a driver, but the following have worked for some people:

TEMP FIX For ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT Crash / BSOD:

Disable your dedicated graphics card in "Device Manager" (in control panel). And when GTA V windows starts up, re-enable your GPU again.

FOR A PROPER FIX TRY THE FOLLOWING:

#Update: Try these first:
- Completely Disable geforce experience.
- Close FRAPS
- Close ALL GPU software.
- Run Game As Admin
- Disable Vsync
- Disable Onboard graphics in the BIOS.
- Run The game in window Borderless.
- Disable ShadowPlay
_____________________________________________________________________

FOR LAPTOP USERS:
1) Work out your resolution (right click screen res)
2) Go to the game on steam, right click -> Properties.
3) Click on set launch options.
4) Type the following:
-w 1336 -h 768
^^^replace these numbers with YOUR resolution.
5) Save,restart steam.

Download NVIDIA Inspector from http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-download.html.
Extract the rar anywhere, and run nvidiaInspector.
Click on "Show Overclocking" in the bottom right.
With the new Overclocking options, we're going to click on "-20" under both Base Clock Offset and Memory Clock Offset.
Once both offsets are showing "-20 MHz" you will click "Apply Clocks & Voltage" and you'll now be downclocked.
You can do this before you start the game or even while it's open. The settings that you apply will remain that way until you hit Apply Defaults.

Open device manager, go to display adapters, and disable your nvidia device so only the intel card is enabled. After launching the game re-enable the nvidia card quickly.

FOR THE USERS WITH NO GAME LAUNCH ON START-UP:

Go to:

My Docs/Rockstar Games/GTA V/
Open settings.xml and find "<DX_Version value="2" />"
Change the value to 1 (Direct X 10.1) and start the game.

OR force the direct X version using nvidiaInspector. Click on the little Tool button next to the Driver version. Try Different types.

If that fails, Load the Grand Theft Auto 5 profile and click apply. See if that helps with some of your issues.

_____________________________________________________________________

IF THE ABOVE IS NOT WORKING TRY THIS:

If the above is not working with the launcher, download this one and replace it. Note, create a back-up of the Original one and put it on your desktop. If it does not work, put it back.

try this one:

launcher:
{LINK REMOVED}
password :n2wf

APPCRASH PROBLEMS:

For those having the APPCRASH error because of using switchable(AMD+Intel) GPUs laptops, installing the Leshcat's 13.12 UnifL driver fixed the problem as this driver set lets us choose which mode we want (Dynamic or Fixed).

Step:
Uninstall both AMD and Intel driver from your system.
Download DDU and install it.
After the drivers have been unninstalled, use DDU to remove the driver's leftovers/garbage files
Now download the Leschat 13.12 UnifL or 14.4UnifL (Don't download anything above 14.4 as latest versions doesn't support Fixed mode)
Install the Leschat's Driver set.
After reboot, go to your BIOS setup, and make the switchable graphics option to Fixed mode.

Now restart and log in to your account.

Rich click and select "Configure Switchable Graphics" and make the system is run under "High Performance" mode.
Now, open GTA V

Installation Manual: http://leshcatlabs.net/manual_chm/
Download the package: http://leshcatlabs.net/downloads_unfil/

HOWTO: Fix ZLIB Game Crashing Error

https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203476427-HOWTO-Fix-ZLIB-Game-Crashing-Error

_____________________________________________________________________

IF ALL ELSE FAILS:

Restart your pc.
Close all applications.
Open GTA from steam.
If you get a crash upload your Dxdiag HERE using Tiny URL or the like.

How to create the dxdiag file:
Open the Windows desktop.
Press Win+R (Windows key and the R key) hotkey to open the Run window.
In the "Open:" field of the Run window, type "dxdiag" without quotes.
Click OK or the Enter key to open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
If prompted to check if your drivers are digitally signed, click Yes.
In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window, click the "Save All Information" button.
In the "Save As" window, information should be saved as a text (.txt) file.
Choose a location where the file will be saved and press the "Save" button.
It's easier to use an accessible location like Desktop.
Now you can send us your dxdiag file in a ticket form.

Give me some time to look at the data and I will report back.

No, downclock a little, even if your running stock clocks. the effects on performance will be un-noticeable.

After two days of not being able to play, this seems to be working for me. I went down 40 instead of 20. I'll keep you updated!

Post updated. Post here if the above fixes work so the thread does not get berried.
