Game crashes when using mouse or keyboard

Ever since I got a steam controller GTA V crashes when ever i use keyboard and mouse, whether i'm in game or it's loading.
It even crashes when the steam controller is turned off.
No error report is given but windows event viewer gives this information:

Additional information, the timing coincides with a recent Windows 10 update but I am unsure of how they could be related.

The windows update is more than likely the cause as it wasn't just an update, it was an entirely new build of windows, build 1607.
