No sound [FIXED]
There is no sound coming from GTA 5. I tryed other games and the sound works so I know that it is a problem with GTA 5.

So you assume right away that it is a problem with the game without even trying to check game files to see if there is any corrupt file!

well think about this. If the sound on my other games work and the sound for only GTA 5 does not work. I am going to go with that it is a problem with GTA 5 and not my computer.

Who said it was your computer?
I said you didnt even tried to check game files integrity through steam to see if there is any corrupt file, here: Go to your steam library>right click on your game>go to properties>local files>check game files cache!

There was a guy last week that had 3 different sound devices. He would play on his pc - not hear a thing - while I was TV'd in - I heard everything. After tinkering / disabling all his devices and testing each one at a time we found out he had headphones plugged into the wrong jack of the wrong device or something silly. All his other games were using a different audio device and playing out speakers. It was a mess.

So then.. we are left with... verify cache - it was mentioned above - I assume you did it.
Possible mod/corruption/interference - I won't go that route unless you mention you used any.
You can rename my documents / rockstar games folder to rockstar games-OLD
That will revert all your ingame settings/saves to default incase those are corrupt/have issues.

And we are back to your OS, audio devices, enabled playback devices, potential issues with various speaker setups, plugs, drivers - especially if you are on win10 using default audio drivers.

What under sound/video/game controllers in device manager? How are you testing sound?
Do you have more than 2 sound devices? What is selected under playback devices in systray/speaker? Are there any other software running related to audio/control panels?

I am testing sound by running other games and it works. I do have 2 sound devices and I tried putting GTA 5 on the other sound device and still no sound. And no there are no programs running sound.

I'd disable a sound device - forget the switching and forcibly only give one to use. I'd probably forcibly uninstall / update/reinstall the drivers for that device too and test. Then doublecheck/test all the playbacks/so on. And then I'd disable that device - and start all over on your other audio device. Any audio devices that are 3rd party like amd hd audio, nvidia hd audio, razer hd audio, virtual audio cable, web cams, etc etc etc - I'd disable it all while testing. Taking note of generic audio plug use or usb audio - so on.

Dunno what else to tell you - I seriously doubt gtav is the problem "at the moment." It IS known to have issues with 3rd party software-audio devices - but generally acts out by stuttering hard.

More recent / slightly changed in regards to no audio -.-
