Toxicity
Hello Palia Community

This is my first community post, but I felt it needed to be done. I have been playing this game with my gf for some weeks now, we are pretty new, but we had been enjoying a lot. Today we went to our first grove, and she started chopping the flow trees. We did not know this was not okay but nobody cared. Everyone was quick to judge and rash, saying she was impolite a bad player and reporting her. When trying to explain everyone said that it was obvious it should not have been done and that these were bad excuses. As a result, and because of this toxicity she does not want to play the game anymore. Not everyone knows the rules in the community, not everyone is comfortable with having an online chat with strangers, and people should receive at least the benefit of the doubt. I hope this message makes the community reflect upon how they treat others specially new players. Palia is supposed to be a chill relaxing game to enjoy after having a bad day not to make people feel sad.

Best and goodbye

What the hell are you talking about? I see like one per day, REAL time. They're super rare, and multiple recipes use them. Probably the rarest Forage item in the game, besides heartdrop lily.

Yeah THIS I agree with. They're so easy to see, and I'm not even sure why they pick up with the dowsing rod.

I still haven't figured out why they exist. You can just buy chocolates, and they have the exact same effect. There's no other purpose for them that I can see.

IIRC (if they haven't changed it at least) you use Heartdrop Lilies to express interest in dating a romanceable NPC.

But that's what it was during testing, so if it's the chocolates now then IDK.
As far as I know, it's both. There was a time when einar was glitched and you had to use the heartdrop lilies with him, ut I'm pretty sure they fixed that by now

Maybe I've been mostly lucky, but the vast majority of the time, players are great about waiting during the grove for anyone that says they're coming before chopping. We chat, dance, do a honey lure, whatever, then chop the grove. Everyone wins and it feels like a nice community event. Solo choppers happen, of course, but in my experience that's not what happens most of the time.

I'm sorry you got piled on. Most people will be gentler about explaining how the grove works unless they recognize someone as being a repeat offender. But even then, again in my experience, people are generally mostly polite about it.

Still new to the game myself, but a quick check on what a Grove is and a Flow Tree provides a nice bit of knowledge.

1. Flow Trees are infinite albeit with a time delay and have a small chance of appearing in the basic maps.. I've cut down a couple myself without knowing their significance.

2. Groves respawn daily.. thus cutting down their Flow Trees is at best a inconvenience for others who will miss out on some rare resources for that day.

Is it a reason to get annoyed.. sure I can see why some people will be annoyed by other players ignorance, especially that of new players who don't know any better.

Is it a reason to attack/bully another player?... absolutely not.
These groves are a daily occurrence, it's not a big deal to miss out on them and those players trying to make it into one need to grow up and recognise that not every player is going to know about any player created and entirely OPTIONAL "rules".. especially when they're new to the game.

By game design the trees are there for any players capable of harvesting them to take.. so they're fair game for anyone.
So don't feel bad about annoying a few players because you didn't know about some plans they had made to farm them as a community or group.. that's not your fault and it doesn't give other players the right to be jerks to you for it.

Cutting down one flow tree doesn't really matter but if you're going to start soloing an entire Grove (4-8 trees) which only appears once per hour it's pretty rude

Flow trees aren't on a time delay (except the grove, of course). Flow trees have a chance to spawn when you cut down any normal tree. This is true for either map, but Bahari Bay has a higher chance of spawning a flow tree.

Also, groves only spawn in Bahari bay
