Nah, it's alive & kicking
no idea at this point. Supposedly it was submitted for valve's approval months ago and they never got a response, but again its been months and I find it hard to believe valve straight up ghosted them. Either they denied it for whatever reason or it was a lie in the first place.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they instead decide to release it on the workshop of P2CE instead of it being standalone.
They're too advanced to cancel it and I think the project is pretty much done.

No one in the project is getting paid to develop A&K so they're probably polishing it and getting through all the legal stuff on their spare time. People are busy.

I have a question though, why are people so adamant on playing the game as soon as possible? I'm certainly waiting for it myself, the aesthetic differences between Portal 1 and 2 always gave me severe OCD.
Last we heard was mid-March where they had to fill out some more forms for Valve. Presumably it's just more Valve Time shenannigans.
I honestly find it increasingly difficult to believe that this is something on Valve's end, but I also don't try to publish mods on Steam so what would I know. I want to believe them, but I'll believe it when I see it at this point. Apparently it's done and they're trying to publish it... according to them. Keep huffing the copium and checking the page daily like the rest of us!

Funny thing is that seems to legit be the problem. Getting no response after months

I started the project with colossal in 2011, he took it over, it has changed hands quite a few times since, it is release ready at this point as I did QA testing a couple months ago. The problem right now is getting Valve to authorize the release.

We had permission to make the mod years ago, we had permission to distribute, and even with changes in the team and my stepping down that permission still remains. I went out of my way to reach out, but was told it has to go to the individuals on the team and I know Dot Operator has been pushing for the release but getting nothing.

I am not sure why it has not launched at this point but it really should have.

I will keep pushing and I know dot will keep pushing too. Mod is basically finished, might get some bonus stuff later but it was extensive testing so most I will say is hold on a bit longer.

Thanks for the reply and the clarification, appreciate the transparency. Best of luck with this red tape ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you're all going through; we're all frustrated but I'm glad that it's able to be on valve and that frustration is shared by you guys too.

I have not had any updates from Valve since filling out a non-commercial license template for Portal: Alive & Kicking a few months ago. I am grateful they initially gave us that option, but now we aren't hearing anything.

The game is done, but we do not have the ability to release it on Steam right now.

Why not just put it on ModDB? There's no point of sitting there waiting when the game is fully done, especially since it's been months with no answer.
The license is required because we have modified Portal 2's source code (which already had its own NDA signed to acquire it); it's not a Steam-specific thing.

That's ridiculously annoying, I'm sorry that you guys are going through this- especially because VALVe already well knows that this has existed for over a decade now. Please don't give up, we're rooting for you guys!
It might be a silly question, but is there a way for the community to bring this issue to Steam support’s attention so they could get the ball rolling on this?
