You can choose it when you start a new game, or change to it in the menus.
There is
Draky mode (Easy) where you can't die.
Dragon Quest mode (Normal).
and
Draconian Mode (Hard).
Got it thanks!
Honestly its more like
Draky mode (Babby mode)
Dragon Quest mode (Easy).
and
Draconian Mode (Normal).
If you are much of a fan of JRPGs at all, I reccomend you put it on Draconian mode, otherwise you will find the game too easy.
On Dragon Quest mode I'm finding the encounter rate a little high after leaving the first continent. The enemies aren't particularly challenging, they're kind of just a timesink. I walk a few steps, encounter an enemy, and then spend X amount of time killing it.
Draconian doesn't make much of a significant difference on the difficulty. It's still remarkably easy primarily because you regain HP and MP on level-up. It does make enemies spongier on the other hand, meaning these combats will last longer. So as a result, you'll be spending more time in combat than you already do, when that number is already quite high.
I played the original when I was dragon warrior to death, I love that game I wanted that and the remix not this, but its still looks really good.
