M16 is a prefectly viable "dirt cheap" alternative. Reloads faster, too, though higher spread and lower kill chance from what I noticed. Still... eh. You won't ragequit just because you can't recover it. ;)
Also, there are a few categories of rare weapons - first comes the so called "rare" ARs/shotties which do not actually outperform much the stock ones, second the DMRs and LMGs and finally the really rare weapons like MG42, Milkor and Lahti, same for those that can be found in Gift Boxes, so one should make a clear distinction between them when speaking of rares.
And usually the experienced players ignore most of them but not because they think they are "dumb", they just don't need them at all.
Instead, I feel you raging here not because of the very existence of rare weapons but rather of the fact that either you can't get enough of them, either you can't beat others at getting them first, or because you're dying too fast while carrying one..... but probably all this will change into your advantage once you become experienced enough. ;)
It's not that I need that weapon, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, don't be so blatantly exploiting all of that effort of mine.
Doubly so when it's somebody you can constantly see running around jacking drops without throwing a single shot downrange. You know. To help actually defeat the enemies.
Edit: Another thing tangential to this discussion - I really think some "classes" - machine gunners, grenadiers, snipers - get the short end of the stick. Frequently they are keeping everybody alive (especially the first two) by putting a hard stop on any AI rushes, but the way the weapons work (and are best used) means they are the least likely to get to any drops before AR doods snatch them.
I always feel kind of bad for them.
Indeed, but I am finding the more I play and the more friends I make, the less this annoys me. Things get shared amongst friends.. and so the greed dies out a bit for some ^_^
