It would be great to have an easy way to communicate with other players.
So many times I've been trying to render a boat helpless to "board" and capture it, only to have another player "kill" it.
It could be someone thinking they're helping, but it's normally done by players with the best boat already, stopping a player in a lower ranked boat advancing, or harvesting resources (like at the "chappie" boats at H21) you get so much more resources by capturing.
Some way of "claiming" the boat or simply telling others nearby you intend to capture would at least let you know if the player is trying to help, or just being an ass so you can move elsewhere.
Similarly, I've tried helping players with lower ranked boats than mine, by taking out the crew until there's only one left and letting the other player go in for the "kill", but there;'s no way to let the other guy know what you're trying to do, or them let you know if they have the skills to even catpure the boat.

A big problem I have is that people either don't use chat, don't see it because it pops up behind items you're disassembling, or don't understand english. Plenty of times I'll be farming and a corsair will come up, I'll text in chat do they want to board, and nothing. I'll leave them a burdock or two, sometimes they'll board, sometimes they'll sink it, sometimes they just leave. My big problem is the inability to communicate with these people to find out why they're here. A movable chat window where the chat always works would help a lot, but we've been asking for a revamped chat system for a very long time now.

Yeah.. I meant "Snappy" in my post, no idea where "chappy" came from :-/
Maybe they could add another emoji to represent "I want to board" They could actually use a wooden board, or a pirate face?
I can't use text chat, it's always global. One guy texted tome directly, no idea how. There was a hint that turn on "hear all players" in the audio setting would let you do individual chat, but it doesn't work for me

If you hit K and go to the second tab, local players, you can click the chat balloon and DM them. They'll answer like 1 out of 20 times lol
