Is it dead?
I have to say that Age of Water feels like a stillbirth to me. The game is fun, but has a major problem with the lack of content. And by that I don't just mean in PVP, but also that the PVE content is ultimately too low. No raids or other PVE activities are just sad. What I also find very strange is that there are no announcements of new content or a roadmap. I was hoping for a big Christmas event but I didn't see anything. Could it be that the developers lack creative minds?!

Yes. It`s dead
There are less than 80 playesr peak. look at {LINK REMOVED} or steamdb.info
No new players - no money - no salaries for devs, no money for maintaining the servers, no money for Gaijin main corp

Is there anyone still there now?
It was tons of creative ideas from testers during all stages of game development. But all of them were sent to the trash.

I'm not sure if they will get the message. I think its a 1 hit wonder game they can't be bothered to let us PvP ships properly in mass scale clans with locations cappable which would earn all players medallions for buying up cosmetics and war tools.
The technology in the game is solid so I hope if they can't capitalize on it they'll sell the IP to someone who can and has the proper vision for it. As it is the game can't decide what it wants to be.
MMO: dysfunctional chat system that feels like a last minute addition, no guilds, no viable player faction system, only one player base (3 whales)
PVP: no viable matched PVP system, at least if they keep the volcano PVP area closed
PVE: works best as this but you get quests that can't be done without help and there's no looking for group function

It has huge potential and suggestions have been made since CBT for how to fix it. If it folds I'll be sad to see it go, but at least I've maxed it out including having the #1 rarest cabin in the game so I def feel I've gotten more than my money's worth

Friend and I still have a blast. But lets see whenever this winter expansion hits. May get a temporary boost in players again.
If you get in a bind and need help post on discord, more of us hang out there than here and I'm still a regular player
All single plays that don't develop into a proper multiplay end up dieing fast. They literally showed the potential of mass clan fights in the trailer

This game needs a system that lets players match up. Basically the UI needs some improvements to allow people to find each other and organise parties if they want us to kill party bosses like Jared. The only way i've been able to get things like that done is hanging out near the fight itself hoping more show.

Not the best time spent as a player.

Small things like that though would help. Clans and functions that get people together would help too but that isn't as important as a grouping tool for quests.
Whenever I'm playing which is most days I always make a couple runs up to the mantis and then down to Nico's to see if anyone has anything up that they need help with. I usually find some. A lot of days it's the scav 5, A couple days ago I found someone trying to handle that with a walrus so I helped out. Yesterday two corsairs were trying to do the silver fleet. A looking for group function would sure fix some problems-- I'm usually available to help, I just don't know where the fight is
Obligatory brain dead "Game is Dead" post. Move along, nothing original here.

Is it even possible to sell an mmo without an implied guarantee of uptime? Didn't someone get in trouble for something like that recently
I wish games like this at least had a dedicated server in the event the devs go under at least you can enjoy the game until you are done with it... its pretty lame they dont plan for this.

Nope. Gaijin doesn't care about letting people play free offline, they just want money so they keep you online trying to temp you
It's definetly not dead but the devs are probably held hostages and can't say anything about new updates.
It might not seem like it but the game sold very well and they made probably around 2 million dollars revenue.
I guess they don't like talking to players that much, we should have had a roadmap by now.
The last update was very nice but the whole game is very anoying now because the made the game much easier wich is unfair for the veteran players since we farmed hundreads of hours.
Oh well, i expect the next big update in 2 months sadly
lol I won't even ask where you got that 2 mil number :) but if you take the largest owner estimation number from steamdb and multiply by 29.99 yeah, it's possible they made bank. There's really nothing else in it's space at the moment. Not sure why the player numbers are creeping up lately but things have been a lot busier in the last few days. What I'm most interested in is what's happening to the PVP area. They have one, fully developed (I think), it was apparently playable in CBT but they haven't opened it back up since EA
